I am so sorry for your loss, but am glad you got to spend some time taking care of her after her spirit had left her body. I always planned on closing my eyes with Jack and not looking at him after he had passed (so I could always remember him as he was with both body and spirit), but after he was gone I just wanted to snuggle him, kiss him, talk to him, and squish his squishy neck 🙂 Its such a special time, and I'm glad you got to experience it (even though it meant saying goodbye to a good friend). We heard Jack bark about 3 days after his passing, so be prepared to be hit in the face when you realize that even though their bodies are gone, their spirits are never really far away 🙂

Beth,
I'm sorry about the sadness in your life right now. However, it's good to know that Tshuvah no longer suffers the pain of her physical body. You gave a beautiful girl a wonderful life, and she enriched yours in so many ways. The sadness will eventually be replaced with happy and loving memories, but you already know that.
Peace,
Lisa
Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end. On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

Thank you all. I'm gratified to know that I was able to share some of who Tshuvah was to folks who never had the pleasure of meeting her, and also to be among those who understand that there's a special place in one's life that only a good dog or two can fill. No matter what I tell myself, the truth is that I'm just bereft without her and Yesha. Just awful.

Beth with my beloved Tshuvah, 10 year old "TaosDog". Provisional diagnosis osteosarcoma on 6/10/10, amputation of left foreleg same day, firm diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma 6/24/10. Set free on 9/9/10. Treasured forever.

Oh Beth,
It's a pain that make some moments seem unbearable. As you know, it gets better and you will eventually say her name without feeling heartache. But for now, you grieve and cry your eyeballs out when you feel like it.
And come over here to talk.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
