Its been a very difficult week. TJ is on my desk with me now (I had him cremated) so I get to talk to him for a bit every day.
The hardest part if the massive and sudden change in my routine. I loved carrying that dog down the steps every morning. It was 10 seconds of nothing but me and TJ time. He knew where to stand so I could pick him up and at the bottom of the steps when I put him down he would lean on my for a few seconds till he go his balance. I miss that so, so much.
God gave me TJ and I thank Him for that. Caring for that dog the last 9 months really put me in my place.
I knew at some point I would have to say goodbye, and that I was lucky to get 9 more months with TJ after his OS and amputation.
Thank you all for the kind words. TJ is in the 2014 Tripawds calendar so I will get to see him at my desk at work for 30 days straight
Awwww {{{{{hugs}}}}}.
Yes, it's definitely the loss of routine that hit us hard too. We even missed silly ordinary things like strolling down the meat aisle in the grocery store to pick out treats for Jer (we're vegetarians!). It takes some getting used to, for sure.
Talking to TJ is great therapy, it will help to heal your heart knowing that he's close by physically and spiritually. My heart goes out to you.

Oh no. I'm a teary mess for you. To come home to that must have been so hard. That's really, really tough. An image that may live on for ever. It's a beautiful thing, though, that he died at home, in his safe place. A place that brought him so much joy, love, and happiness. We know he didn't suffer as his days and WHOLE life up to that final moment were filled with joy.
We'll miss you, TJ. Run free and fast! We love you, you handsome boy.

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
I'm so sorry TJ has crossed the Bridge.
I completely get the loss of routine part. Caring for our Tripawds fighting cancer is a time consuming, sometimes stressful, labor of love. And we develop routines that create such a powerful bond- those things that only we know- like carrying TJ. My Tri-pug Maggie was quite a hands on project, and even though I had another pug at home when Maggie crossed over, I didn't know what to do without all the things that had become our norm.
TJ is with you on your desk, in the calendar, and ALWAYS in your heart.

Tri-pug Maggie survived a 4.5 year mast cell cancer battle only to be lost to oral melanoma.

I will just add my condolences to those others who have said it better than I can. You were TJ's champion and leader and you've shared your journey with all of us here. Thank you for that gift. I hope it helps to know we understand and share your loss, as a part of TJ remains with all of us.

Deb and Lexie
Deb and Angel Lexie* Diagnosed at age 13. Tried radiation first; wish we had amputated upon diagnosis (even with lung mets). Joined Club Tripawd April 2014 & Lexie loved life on 3 legs! Advice: Start physical therapy as soon as your vet clears it, especially hydrotherapy if available :-) See Lexie pics here.
Oh that would make me lose it, how beautiful.
