Some of you might remember Titan, my mastiff, Sammy's big brother. He was diagnosed with Lymphoma 6/9/12 and after an extremely short week he passed last weekend 6/16. He loved Sammy and us so much, he fought hard last week to keep eating and trying, but the cancer was too advanced. By Saturday night he was unable to move, so we had a really kind Vet we hadn't used before come out to our home and help him leave this world.
I'm crushed, it was so unexpected. What I cling to is that Titan loved Sammy so much, as well as my girl Shy that he is now pain free and running and playing and sleeping with our crew tonight.
It is the end of an era at our home. The last of our "kids" has gone and it is as if the last 15 years of our life is only pictures now.
I'm glad Golly got to know Titan a little, maybe that adds a tenative link to the loves of our lives.
Run free my noble, wonderful, protective boy, you are so missed
Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in the right front leg 8/23/10,
leg fractured 8/27/10,
leg amputated 8/30/10

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
I am so very sorry for your loss. You had so little time to come to terms with Titan's diagnosis. Losing our beautiful pups is the hardest think but I think it is even a little harder again (if that's possible) when it is unexpected. You are in our thoughts.

Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. Oh Elizabeth, I am so sorry you have lost your Titan. I don't know if this piece of advice is beneficial or not, but even though you feel the last 15 yrs are just pictures now, you can try to think of it from Shy, Sammy, and Titan's points of view. You were their family, their world, and their lives...and you showered them with love and affection. You made their lives so full and terrific! To you it may just be a relatively small window in your life, but to them it was everything...and it will forever live on. I'm not sure if my meaning is coming across the way I meant it to, but I cant seem to pull the right words right now. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.
I'll keep your family in my prayers.
Leslie
Oh, Elizabeth, I am so sorry. Your family has seen more than its share of loss and heartache these last few months. I do understand your thoughts about your 'kids' being together again. We adopted littermates (Zeus and Merlin) when they were pups and they spent every day of the next nine years together until we lost Merlin almost three years ago. That is the one thing that gives me the most peace about the limited time we have with Zeus - that when it is his time he will be together again with his brother. Please know that my thoughts are with you. Give Golly lots of hugs and let her help to heal you.
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

My heart goes out to you Elizabeth, I am so, so sorry to hear this tragic news about your boy. You've been though so much, I know this had to be extremely difficult.
The loss never gets easier, but the memories never fade. May Titan's magic stay strong in your heart, forever. I'm so very sorry.

Elizabeth - there is nothing I can say that will make it better but im so sorry. Leslie has said it best i think. You are in our thoughts tonight. Hold those memories and pictures tight, although they are gone they will all live forever in your heart.

This is such sad news! It is so hard when there isn't much time like this.

Elizabeth, we are thinking of you during this hard time. I can't imagine losing two pups so close together. I do agree it gives some peace to imagine your fur kids together again, running and playing pain free.
I hope you will soon remember both your boys with more smiles than tears, and i know that Golly will help you find smiles and laughter, even while you are grieving.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. I'm so sorry to read this Elizabeth. Titan was a handsome boy. It is easier knowing the three of them are together and having a swell time.
Thinking of you during this difficult time.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Oh Elizabeth, I'm so sorry to hear that you had to say farewell to your handsome boy Titan. And it's so incredibly unfair to have to go through another heartwrenching loss so soon after losing Sammy, and Shy too. I lost my two girls within 4 months of each other so I can truly empathize with the gut-punch you've just experienced. Now let yourself grieve and start the healing process all over again knowing that your angels are together again watching over you...Never to depart from your heart.
Sending you big hugs and thoughts for comfort and peace

I am so sorry to hear this. I've only been actively following the forums in the last few months but I remember just recently seeing the birthday tribute you posted for your Sammy and was very moved. To loose two companions in such a short time is heartbreaking and seems unfair. It's obvious you love your dogs very much and I hope you find comfort in the memories created in those years.
Harley is an 8 year old Golden Retriever. Amp surgery for an infiltrative lipoma canceled due to two masses in chest. A rescue, he found his forever home on 3/18/07 and left for his eternal home on 1/09/13. His story and medical history are at http://myharley.....pawds.com/
Elizabeth, I was deeply saddened to read your post. You have been through so much-- I remember your agonizing posts as you struggled to let Sammy go. You are such a good person, such an amazing pawrent. I hope you are able to find some small comfort at the thought of your fur kids romping about together and that Titan did not suffer-- you were able to release him from his suffering gently and swiftly.
((Hugs))
Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
