Ohhh Meg, our hearts just broke, Max is such a special dog to us! As one of the oldest members here, we are so sad to know he's an angel now. Jim, myself, Wyatt Ray & Spirit Jerry are so very, very sorry.
Folks I really encourage you to read about Max, he was an amazing dog. Meg really did so much for him, he was a lucky lucky dog to be so loved and cared for by such a great lady. If you never saw this, Meg wrote a great article about prosthetics and Tripawds. And a while back, Max even got to meet Barney!
I hope you enjoy these photos of Max and reading his blog, he really was, and always been such a great boy. Meg, our hearts go out to you.

I'm sorry Max has crossed the Bridge. He's been around so long it seemed like he would be here forever- although gone from this earth he will live forever in your heart.
What an amazing run your boy had! Little consolation now as you deal with the rawness of loss, but the memories and triumphs of Max's life will make you smile again one day.
For now I hope you let the Tripwad Nation help carry just a little of your grief.

I'm sorry for your loss. It doesn't seem to matter how long we get to enjoy their love, it's never long enough. Thinking of you.
Amy & Spirit Libby
Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13. Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14. She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self. Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14
I'm so sorry he's gone. He seemed like an exceptional pup! Quite a legacy he's got, huh?
Thanks for sharing his story with us. We'll miss him and know that his love and spirit live on. HUGS
~ Katy & Jackson
ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
I'm so sorry about your loss of Max, Meg. Great pictures Jerry posted...what an amazing boy. And he's running again now, free from pain.
Take comfort in the joyful times you had, and know that your Tripawd family is keeping you and Max in our thoughts and prayers.
Deb and Angel Lexie* Diagnosed at age 13. Tried radiation first; wish we had amputated upon diagnosis (even with lung mets). Joined Club Tripawd April 2014 & Lexie loved life on 3 legs! Advice: Start physical therapy as soon as your vet clears it, especially hydrotherapy if available :-) See Lexie pics here.
Oh no, we are so sorry to see that Max has crossed the bridge. His story has been such an inspawration for all of us. Please know that you are not alone and that we are here for you--anytime. Max may be gone but his spirit will live on, in your heart and those of the Tripawd Nation. Run free sweet Max!
Sending you all our love and strength,

Thank you everyone. I am so sad about my angel. I feel so much guilt for having the vet end his life that day. I worry that I made the wrong decision, that I didn't try hard enough or wasn't willing to spend enough money to help him. In the end, he was 14 years old old and had been working those three legs very hard for over half his life, but it doesn't make it any easier. Part of me just wishes I had brought him home, run more tests, or had just tried more antibiotics knowing that we'd be back again at the vet in a few more weeks when I got worse again. None of my reasoning helps. I still feel like let him down.

I miss my boy so much
Meg,
I am sorry to hear about Max. I think we all question our decisions on when our baby crosses the bridge. That is a totally normal. You did everything you could have for Max. He was a great dog and thank you for sharing his story with us & his wonderful pictures.
