I can't believe I'm writing this.
My little ray of sunshine Phoebe (Shelby's 10.5 year old *sister* golden) will be undergoing her 3rd surgery in a year against mammary gland adenocarcinoma next week.
I lost Shelby one month ago tomorrow......two weeks later, my little foster girl Summer (golden mix) joined Shelby at the Bridge due to cancer.
I have to stay strong for Phoebe, and I will. I found this growth early.....I started an early detection campaign last year after Phoebe's first cancer surgery and called it *Feel 'Em Up Friday* in which I encourage all pet owners to spend 5 minutes out of their day each Friday to literally feel up their pets from head to toe, mouth and paws included.
This pea-sized growth is new....I found it last Friday, so it's small and hopefully her recovery time will be quite minimal compared to the two previous surgeries.
If I could figure out how to post a photo of Phoebe, I would............she is the most petite, gentle, happy little golden retriever who ever walked on earth, and Shelby adored her (and vice versa) Please keep us in your thoughts as we again to go battle against The Beast.
Pam,
I am so sorry to read about Phoebe........it seems a lot of our members lately have been thrown multiple battles at at once lately and it's just truly not fair . Phoebe is so very lucky to have you for her mama, good for you for early detection!
I will be thinking of you and your Phoebe and sending warm thoughts and hugs your way.
xoxo,
Erica & Jill
Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. "Like" Jill's facebook page: https://www.fac.....tty?ref=hl Proud member of the WINTER WARRIORS!!!! Her blog can be read at http://jillsjou.....ipawds.com. xoxo
I'm hoping that Phoebe absorbed all of Shelby's fight and persistence and will put it to use in her new battle. Actually, she's been battling this for awhile, I know. The enemy just keeps finding new battlegrounds.
Doing your head-to-toe every week means that you literally are leaving no stone unturned. Please know that you are doing all that is humanly possible for Phoebe. That matters a lot. You'll be in my thoughts.

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.
Dakota's thoughtful and erudite blog is at http://shari.tr.....pawds.com/
Aw Pam, your pack is due a break. So what must be going to happen is that Phoebe will bounce right back from this surgery and be done with this cancer crap!
All positive thoughts heading your way for a successful surgery and a quick recovery.
Let us know how she is doing.

You can do this, Phoebe! Your momma found this little lump early and you've been down this road before. Harness all that strength and fight this thing. Your momma is fighting so hard for you and your Spirit siblings.
HUGS to all. Today, in memory of Shelby. More HUGS.
ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
Pam and Phoebe, we are thinking of you today and sending all our Tripawd pawsitivity for a successful surgery. Phoebe, with your sisters' watching over you, I know you can get through this!
Hang in there Pam. By being so pro-active and observant, you can both beat this cancer.
As for posting pics, here is a link to post images to your Forum post. If you can't figure it out, email us and we will get them in here for you.
