In the beginning of November we noticed that she started to limp. We didn't think anything of it at the time. We figured she had stepped on something outside and just hurt her pad. Then after Thanksgiving she had gotten a knot on her right leg above her joint. Again we thought that she had tried to get out of her kennel and just bruised it. After about a week and a half the knot didn't go away and her limp got worse. So we took her to the vet. Then we got the news: it might be cancer. We scheduled a bone biopsy on December 19, 2008. They said that the results would take about a week. We heard from the doctor on thee 23rd and it confirmed his supicion. We talked it over and decided that amputation was the best thing for her.
Her surgery was on New Year's Eve. We weren't even really worried. We have alot of confidence in her vet and thought that everything would be just fine. We were supposed to pick her up to bring her home on January 2. The vet called after the surgery and told me that everything went good. She was just waking up when we were finished on the phone. We received a call on the morning after her surgery and were told that she had passed sometime in the night. We were devastated. Sarah was our baby. She was the best dog and had the best personality. She was so playful and just loved life. But atleast she is not in any more pain. We will always love her and never forget her. She was a big part of our family. I know that words cannot take away any pain but for anyone who has lost a pet just always remember the good times and know that they loved you and you will never forget them. They will always be with us wherever we are.
Hi Leslie,
I am so very sorry to hear about Sarah passing away so suddenly after her amp surgery. What happened to her? What caused her passing? How devastating... I'm so sorry you both had to let go of your baby girl so early in the journey. It just doesn't seem fair to not even get a chance to have a life as a tripawd. However, please know that she is in such good company with Spirit Jerry and our other dear tripawd friends who have crossed the Bridge. Her playful spirit is running around with them now... where the bones, tennis balls, Kongs and squeaky toys are in abundance as well as the love. Sarah's sweet spirit will also be with you and your boyfriend... reassuring and comforting you both... letting you know that she is in a pain free and happy place now but will always love the both of you with all of her heart.

Hey Sherri-
The vet said that he thought that it must have been a blood clot that she passed during the night. But we are comforted in knowing that she was not in any pain due to the meds from the surgery. Thank you for your kind words. They mean alot. And don't forget that Sarah and all the others also get their own couches to sleep on. She loved her couch. Thank you!!!
Dear Leslie, I am so sorry that your baby girl Sarah passed away so suddenly. It is truly very devestating and shocking. But then, she is now pain-free, with a lot of friends to play with.
She will be missed, but she will always be dearly in your heart.
Thoughts and prayers are with you. Hugs.

Leslie, thank you for sharing Sarah's story here. As we said during our chats, we are so heartbroken for you, and wish you much comfort and solace in the good times you shared with your baby.
My Mom is away from her laptop today but when she gets back tomorrow, she'll put up Sara's photos here so everyone can see what a beauty she was.
Many hugs.

I am sooooo sorry and saddened to hear about Sarah. I cannot even imagine the shock, disbelief and probably countless other feelings you and your boyfriend have been experiencing. Sharing those positive thoughts was very selfless of you at this really difficult time - thank you for that. I'll look foward to seeing your beautiful baby - and yes, she is running free with Spirit Jerry, Lalla, Genie, Jack and countless other beautiful souls.
I wish you peace.

I am very sorry for your unexpected loss of Sarah. I have heard of dogs dying from blood clots after amputation but I've never seen it myself. She probably passed away peacefully in her sleep, but I know that you must be hurting right now. We know that the surgery was the only true way to relieve her body of the pain from the cancer, but unfortunately there are always risks.
My very deepest sympathies,
Pam and Tazzie
Dearest Leslie,
We are truly sorry to hear about your loss. What a shock it must have been to receive the call from the vet on the morning after Sarah's surgery. We are thankful that Sarah is no longer in any pain, but still want you to know we offer our deepest condolences.
Here are some more photos of beautiful Sarah.
Rest in peace, baby girl.

Sarah certainly is (and always will be) a Beauty!!! As much as I'd like to say she would be happy having her OWN couch up there with Jerry and our other dear tripawd friends, I SEE that she's pretty content with SHARING the couch too! I'm sure she is laying on an extra large sectional with Titan right now... both of them all cuddled up next to one another and happy just being couch potatoes for the moment!
