I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
I know exactly how you feel Pam. I spent the day playing sad songs, wishing he were here to cheer me up.
Thanks angl!

Elizabeth,
I have thought long and hard about what to say to this post and cannot come up with words that seem appropriate. Sammy was a beautiful boy with a soul that just shined through his eyes - I cannot look at your avatar without smiling. I know it is still hard for you, especially on special occasions. I really do believe that Sammy is watching over you even now and I wish you peace. I would bet you anything that he is having a ball celebrating!

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Sammy, we hope that you and our Tripawd Angels are having the biggest celebration ever. Happy Birthday sweet boy, we miss you lots. xoxo
Elizabeth, these milestones are tough. Your tribute speaks volumes about the love you shared. Our hearts go out to you today.

Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Sending hugs to you, Elizabeth-- these firsts aren't pleasant. Happy birthday Sammy, I know you are enjoying yourself up there with the pack. Pam is right on the money- when they pass away when they are young, it makes it all the more difficult.

Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
I agree with Charon! That wonderful smiling boy is probably living large today!
He is missed here on earth. But I suspect my Comet has him wearing a red party hat while she is dictating the seating arrangement at his big party! (she was always a bit bossy and needed things exactly perfect )
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Hope he is getting a big birthday kiss from Gayle! (And that Abby is sneaking in some kisses too when Gayle isn't looking...)
Sending hugs and Rita nose pokes,
Jackie
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Sammy was such a sweet boy. He totally cracked me up, and I loved him the instant I saw him.
Rio woulda been 12 sometime this month, too -- date unknown, but we celebrate this week. And I miss her sweet face every day.
I hope it's not awkward, but I'm giving you the biggest hug at our Tripawds pawty. Wear your waterproof mascara!

All of you are such wonderful people. This is the place I come to be with the people who really understand loving a special friend like ours. Thank you for helping me get through the "crash and burn" of his first birthday without him.
Thanks Lisa for the kind words, thanks everyone. Charon and Ge'Lena, you are right I hope 🙂 Catherine, you are always so kind. Admin, many hugs!
Mickie, this is our first tripawds party where there will only be 1 or 2 tripawds. The rest of us are coming without our wonderful kids who fought so hard. Mascara? I doubt I will come with any makeup, it will all be washed off anyway the minute I see you. I hope you don't mind but I will probably be hugging you all non-stop.
It is going to be very hard, but I am glad we are doing it. Sammy loved our tripawd parties, he will be with me in my heart and probably making all his growly noises in my head when we pull up. I think seeing his bff Lincoln may send me over the edge. The first of all of these are going to be so tough.
