Thanks to everyone for your comforting words and thoughts as we adjust to our post-Zackie life. His internal medicine vet called us this morning when she heard the news, and thought that with the suddenness of what happened, it may have been a blood clot or dislodged tumor in his lungs. While it doesn't make us miss him less, it made us feel better to have a little bit more closure.
And, Zack's training is still alive & well in his sister, Izzy, who woke up like clockwork around 4a this morning to go out. As we were getting back into bed after letting her out, sad about one less member of the family joining us, we had a chuckle thinking that around that same time, Spirit Zack was probably waking up St. Francis to be let out, too (he was nothing if not punctual!)
Zack, King of Dogs, 1996 to 2010
Zack lived a full 14 years, even to the end.
The joy and memories he provided us will last a lifetime.
Surviving him is his sister, Izzy, a 12-year-old boxer mix quadpawd.
And the latest addition, Zula, an 11-month-old pit bull mix tripawd.
Thank you all so much for your comforting words and well-wishes. I can say that it was very hard going to work today, and very strange coming home to the house without Zack. Knowing that there are so many of you out there that have also been through this and have been pulling for Team Zack over the past few months has been tremendously helpful. When I spoke to his internal medicine vet this morning, I'm not sure who was more upset--her or I. They really went all out for him, and for that, we will be eternally grateful. We've been so lucky to have the veterinary team we've had to see Zack through this. Thank you all again for the kind words and good advice throughout this difficult journey. Spirit Zack thanks you all, too.
we too are so sorry to hear of zack's passing. good that you were able to be with him, but sad, none the less. remember that love never ends.

I'm so sad to read about Zack. I was so happy when you posted his 14th birthday celebration. I thought how amazing. He obviously was surrounded by so much love and gave you so much love back. What a wonderful life you both shared with each other. If every dog and family could be so lucky. So here's to Zack who will always remain forever in your heart.
My deepest condolences,
Kami, Mackenzie and Kobe
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
We just wanted Zack's pack to know that we recieved a thoughtful contribution this morning in his honor. This gift will help support our continuing efforts to maintain the Tripawds community. On behalf of all those who loved Zack, thank you.

I am so sorry for your loss. May your memories of Zach comfort you.
Debra & Angel Emily
Debra & Emily, a five year old doberman mix, who was diagnosed with an osteosaecoma. She had a right rear leg amputation on May 19, 2009. On November 10, 2009 she earned her wings and regained her fourth leg.
I am so sad to hear of Zack's passing. As sudden as it was, it is never easy. My sweet JD began this Tripawd journey around the same time as you all and Zack did, and I too lost her very suddenly. Like you I did feel some comfort in being with her to ease her out of this life.
Zack knows how much he was loved and cared faor.
I truly wish you peace as you move through his sad passing.
