As some of you old timers remember our Tripawd Daisy left us in Oct 2011. Her 13 yr old companion Samson was heartbroken so we asked the Dal rescue to find us an older female to keep him company. They found Lady, a 13 yr old Dal who had been in an Aiken SC shelter for 11.5 months. She came to live with us in Nov and had been a wonderful addition to our family and did a great job of keeping Sam company.....usually in the form of napping marathons on the couch with the sunbeam shining in.
We are sad to say that she has passed from kidney failure. We hope that we made her last few months here on earth comfortable and we hope she knew that she was loved.
Rest in peace Lady- you will be missed.
Spirit Samson was Spirit Tripawd Daisys four legged "brother" and ruled as the self proclaimed head of the Monkeybutt Federations East Coast Division. Lady Chunky Monkey stayed from Oct 2011 and left for the bridge in Apr 2012. Miss Perdy is left and has some big pawprints to fill.

It was wonderful that you gave Lady a loving home for her last months. It is difficult to open your heart to an older pup, not many will do it.
It's amazing how deep the paw prints can be in only a short time.
Sending peaceful thoughts to the whole pack today.

julie and bob, we're so sorry to read that lady has passed on. you gave her a wonderful final chapter in her life, and sent her off on her next adventure knowing that humans can be loving and kind. she is now swapping stories with daisy, and probably telling our gayle the advantage of having some white mixed in with the black fur. hugs to you all, you are champions in the world of rescue. love never ends.
charon & spirit gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
So sorry to hear that you didn't gt to have more time with Lady. You are so wonderful for giving her a happy loving home to spend her final days in, with a comfy sofa and a buddy to snuggle with.
I know you and Samson will miss her. Sending healing thoughts your way.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Oh Julie and Bob!
This is so heartbreaking! I know you were blessed to have her for these few months and I know how attached she was to you. It's just so sad ......but there is a wonderful feeling knowing that you came in time to save her and showed her love. It was the greatest gift of all.
I agree with Charon - you two are the Champions in the World of Rescues.
Goodbye Dear Sweet Lady
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Lady was a lucky doggie to have been rescued and loved by you. I am so sorry for your loss. Although you didn't have much time together, that doesn't change the love between you. They have a way of nestling into your heart immediately, don't they?
Poor Samson has lost another friend ... that just isn't fair.
Beth and Spirit Smilin' Sammy
Smilin' Sammy, March 16, 2004 – Dec. 5, 2011
Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.
We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.
So sorry to hear about your loss. There is nothing more special than knowing that an animal left this world knowing what it's like to be truly loved. You gave Lady that most special gift and I hope that helps your heart to heal. Our thoughts are with you and Sampson.
Lisa and Zeus
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

I remember when you brought Lady home, and I am so sorry to hear she left you so soon. You gave her a loving home to live out the remainder of her life. It doesn't how long (or how short) a time you loved your pup, love knows no time-- you loved her and she loved you-- I am sure she and Daisy are swapping stories at the bridge-- you are good people. I am so sorry for your loss

Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
Oh, Julie, this is so sad. You did such a wonderful thing, giving a loving home to an old girl, and I know she appreciated this gift. So sorry your Chunky Monkey has reached the end of her road. Fly free, Lady -- you were loved!
