Over the weekend, my friend found out that her dog, who had what the doctors thought was a hurt leg, actually has osteosarcoma. Tomorrow, 10-year old Ozzie will begin his journey as an invisible dog. He has been abnormally panting and urinating and doctors think it has spread to his lungs and bladder. Because of this, my friend's parents have decided that it is time for him to leave his hurting body. While a cancer diagnosis hurts no matter when it's received, I imagine it must be especially hard when instead of finding out your dog will be living with cancer, you instead find out that cancer has been living in your dog for much longer than anyone thought, and that it is time to say goodbye. I am eternally greatful for the 14 extra months I got to have Jack, and my heart goes out to Alice and the rest of her family as tomorrow they will be losing a physical part of their lives. Despite that, Ozzie has made each of them who they are today, and will forever live on in each and every one of them. So today we think of honorary tripawd Ozzie, and tomorrow we think of healing thoughts for his family.

Love Never Ends
Ozzie, we are so sorry, that's just not fair.
Tomorrow we will be there to meet you. You will have lots of amazing Spirit Dogs like the Captain to keep you company, pawty with and chase those pesky skwirells.
I know it will be sad to part ways with your family and I'm very sad about that. It won't be easy for them.
Our hearts go out to everyone in your life. We are so sorry.

That had to be a horrible shock for the family. At least we were given 27 1/2 months to continue to share.
Sending tons of good thoughts for the family.
RIP sweet Ozzie. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
The November Five - Spirits Max, Cherry, Tika, Trouble & Nova. 11/2008 - 3/2013 An era ends as Queen Nova crossed the Bridge.
I so agree with everyone. It is so hard when you get the diagnosis and you have to decide to go with amputation and/or chemo but to find out your poor puppy has no options that is even more heartbreaking. I am grateful for the 5 1/2 months that we had Emily. Those are days that I will cherish forever and I am so sorry for Ozzie's family to be cheated out of them.
Debra
Debra & Emily, a five year old doberman mix, who was diagnosed with an osteosaecoma. She had a right rear leg amputation on May 19, 2009. On November 10, 2009 she earned her wings and regained her fourth leg.
Everyone else is right--it isn't fair and it sucks.
It sounds like Ozzie is in distress and hurting. It's awful that the end of his pain doesn't come with an amputation, like so many here, but with the end of his life here. I am so happy for Ozzie that he had 10 full years with a family that loves him enough to free him from that awful pain. I wish peace for them, as well. For Ozzie, I wish for loving arms holding him as he finishes his journey here.

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Rest in peace sweet Ozzie... Hopefully you will meet up with my sweet angel Jake and all the other awsome Tripawds that have gone on before you...
Your family is in my thoughts and prayers...
