Snooks, an eight year old Rottie was having an exceptionally good recovery 2 1/2 weeks after amputation. Her well-intentioned, very loving family gave her IBUPROHFEN as they thought she was experiencing some unexpected muscle sorness. She rapidly went downhill and was "put down" in the emeegency room tonight due to toxins destroying her organs.
I don't know if this is a post that belongs here or where, if anywhere it should be. I just don't want anyone to ever have to experience this seemingly unbearable, massively unfair, burden. Snooks was being operated on the same day of my dog's amputation and it's been wonderful hearing how well her recovery was going......and then they called tonight barely able to get the words out I cannot even begin to imagine the despair and grief they will endure.
Just wanted to pass this on so no one else will experience the same.
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
I'm so sad to read this. Oh, it's awful. HUGS to the pawrents.
ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
Oh gosh, that is just heartbreaking. My heart goes out to Snooks' family. By posting here you will get this message out to lots of people. Please send lots of hugs to her loving family.

Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Oh that's so tragic! Please tell Snooks' family we are very sorry and they can come here to talk if they want to. I can't even imagine how they must be feeling. We are thinking of them.
Thank you for taking the time to share this information and help others avoid such heartache.

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13. Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14. She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self. Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14
