Ruthie lost her battle last night. Her pain was so unbearable that there was no question it was time to let her go. Her passing was peaceful and I held her until she was gone. I love her so much and will miss her every single day. I can't bear to put her stuff away but at the same time it all just reminds me that she's not here anymore. Her life was way too short (9/12/03-6/13/10). She would have celebrated her 9 month ampuversary this Thursday.
My own trip to The Bridge will be brighter knowing she will be there to run and greet me on all four legs.
I'm so sorry for your loss of Ruthie. Gawd, this cancer crap really SUCKS. Such a young dog to loose her life at the age of 7.
Hugs to you during this time....tears flowing here in Maine for you

I'm so sorry about Ruthie. She was so lucky to have you, and you were so lucky to have her - we know this is such a painful time. We're keeping you in our hearts, and are sending lots of hugs. We're all here for you.
Hugs,
Holly, Zuzu and Susan
Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

Our hearts are with you. We lost our Golden girl Skyler just this past Friday, so we understand your pain. You gave Ruthie the greatest gift of all by letting her go. It's not easy, but it's the right thing to do.
Jane, Cathy, and Angel Skyler
Skyler – 10 year old Golden Retriever. Diagnosed with Mast Cell Tumor on 2-26-10. Right rear leg amputated on 3-4-10. Crossed Rainbow Bridge on 6-11-10. Chloe – Joined her sister on 4-4-11, due to hemangiosarcoma. The beloved Golden Girls are now back together.
Oh Pat. I am so very, very sorry. Our thoughts are with you and our tears are flowing.

Pat,
I am so sorry Ruthie's journey has ended. I hope you find a bit of peace knowing you did your best for her.
On putting stuff away- after I let Maggie go I put all of the 'bad' stuff away- the meds, the fluids, the towels and absorbent pads. I got rid of the syringe and the special food I made.
I have left out her bowl, blankets and toys, the good stuff. I know that she is gone, but having her stuff out helps me to feel her presence in the house. These are the reminders of the good times, before Mag was sick.
It is still very hard- and nothing can fix that but time. We will miss our girls forever.
Karen and the pug girls
I am so sorry to hear about Ruthie. It took a lot of courage and love to let her go. Sending your peace and comfort.
Daisy, 12 years young, had left forelimb amp on 5/19/2010 due to osteosarcoma. She left her body behind and joined the other spirit tripawds on 7/16/2010.
So grateful for each day with her!
Lexi (Daisy's momma)
Oh Pat, I'm so saddened to hear this news about Ruthie. My heart is breaking for you. We're grieving with you and know how painful this is. Take comfort in knowing that she will still be by your side and that will be forever. Sending you lots of hugs and wishing you peace during this very difficult time.
Kami
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Please accept our deepest condolences Pat. And bless you for all you did for Ruthie. Thank you for sharing her with us all.

Pat,
This is a sad day for the Tripawds community. Our hearts go out to you, we are so very sorry. You did all you could do for your girl while still giving her the dignity that she wished for. We salute your courage and her fight, and know that she is running free with all of our Spirit Tripawds.
Don't be in a rush to do anything. Let grief take its course and do what feels right to you.
When Jerry left us, we kept his things out for a very long time. Even today, his little three legged "mini-me" still goes everywhere with us.
We're so sorry. Please know we are all thinking of you and are here to lean on if you want to talk OK?

Oh Pat - I'm so, so sorry.
Words escape me today as there have been so many losses. Ruthie was a special and beautiful girl. My heart just breaks for you - especially knowing you just lost your beloved horse, too.
Ruthie fought a courageous battle and she was so loved. I remember hearing about Ruthie even before we met you! Diane was so inspired after seeing Ruthie at the vet's after her amputation. She wrote about you and then we, too were able to meet you!
I'm just so sad for you but I am so glad that you made a friend nearby in Diane and that you guys have each other to comfort.
Many, many hugs to you -
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
