I am so very sorry to hear this. K was such a beautiful dog, I just loved looking at her pictures. Please know that our thoughts are with you during this sad time.
Wishing you peace and strength,
Lisa
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Thanks to everyone for their wonderful and supportive replies. I know that many of you are still in cancer battles so hearing about a loss is hard - I am pulling for all of you. That's why I appreciate your sweet words so very much.
K, an 8 year old chocolate lab, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of the radius and ulna on 12/23/11. She had stereotactic radiation to kill the bone tumors, and 3 rounds of carboplatin. On 3/16/12, lung mets were found. We tried several different kinds of chemotherapy to slow the lung mets but none worked. Finally, mets appeared at other sites, including her spine. She earned her angel wings on July 15, 2012. K changed my life, and I'll never forget her. Our/my journey is chronicled at romp-roll-rockies.blogspot.com.
We are very saddened to hear that you beloved K lost the battle with this terrible disease. We hope that you can relive the wonderful times that you shared with K. You are right, cancer really sucks!
Chuck & Rusty
Rusty is a Labradoodle who was diagnosed with level 3 Fibrosarcoma on January 16th, 2010 and had his left hind leg amputated on January 25th, 2010 five days before his 18 month birthday. Please see Rusty's blog @rusty.tripawds.com. He is putting up one heck of a fight against this terrible disease.
I am so very, very sorry to hear this. Cancer does indeed suck. It's so shocking when things I downhill so quickly...one day everything is ok, then suddenly it's not. I think we all believe that our dogs will be the ones who beat the odds....we have to believe that or how would we function every day?
It does get better....easier to breathe. The shock still exists for me though - after almost 4 weeks, I still wake up in the middle of the night and am surprised that Holly isn't on her bed. Isn't it amazing how your heart can actually hurt with grief?
As others have said, this is the place to be. Come here to vent and cry and know that everyone understands what you are going through.
I'm so glad that you had the weekend to spoil K.
Take care of yourself.
I think we all know where our cancer road will lead, but when we get there it is still a shock. I think also you have to be optimistic, you have to think that you will beat the odds, otherwise you miss out on the life being lived in front of you while you plan for the end. K lived life large- and that is because you planned on her living.
She will always be in your heart and will always be by your side.

I am so very sorry you lost your beautiful girl. Scout had spinal mets; I remember that sudden, awful downward spiral. I often visited your blog and admired your photos of K; she had a brilliant life. Thinking of you and hoping the pain lessens and the memories soon bring more smiles than tears.

Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
I am so sorry about KBear. I know exactly what you mean about being shocked you didn't beat the odds. We were, too. Of course, some do continue to defy this terrible disease and we all pray that it will be our dog. Sadly, it happens too infrequently.
Your heart is broken now, but I promise you that it will get better. You will always miss your baby, but I hope your memories comfort you and sustain you through your grief. We are all sending positive thoughts your way.

Smilin' Sammy, March 16, 2004 – Dec. 5, 2011
Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.
We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.

KB,
I am so very sorry that K made her journey to Rainbow Bridge. I haven't been on here in awhile and I was shocked when I read your post, so I apologize for being so late. You gave K the most loving gift by letting her go....you gave her angel wings. In time, may memories of your sweet girl bring smiles and happiness instead of only tears and sadness.
Godspeed K. Run free with all of the hero angels that have gone before you. Please send pennies when you get a chance.
Wishing you peace and strength during this difficult time...
Hugs and chocolate labby kisses,
Ellen & Charley
