This was reprocuded by Bark Box. A letter from Excalibur's human. Excalibur, a gentle Senior, was dragged out of his home by crazed "authorities" and murdered because his Nurse human had Ebola This act should not be covered up with softer words like "euthanized"...murder, it was murder of a frightened and helpless dog. His owners were not even allowed to be with him.

Anyway, I don t know if the link will shownup. Hope it was okay to post this here.

The lack of humanity...the lack of mercy.....the lack of common decency and reasoning.......and Excalibur had to pay the price.

I just want to say to EXCALIBUR...your life made a difference....your life has a purpose more far reaching than we can even begin to imagine. One thing I can say with confidence...a dog named EXCALIBUR will never be forgotten and his earthly presence has touched us all. We must not ever let this happen again!

Thank you, Sally.......Although this has become a very touchy international media frenzy of mixed thoughts and beliefs, I truly had my heart broken over this situation. Without getting into all the scientific and political opinions of this, personally, I believe this was an unnecessary act of killing a helpless beloved pet. My heart truly aches for this unfortunate nurse and her husband........if this were my dog taken away and killed, my desire to beat this awful virus would disappear......but I hope she does survive this awful thing. And you are right, Excalibur will live on in all our hearts, and definitely be remembered by all of us that believe this was a total atrocity.

The pup taken in this country in Texas by the first nurse stricken by this horrible virus, is I believe doing well in quarantine..... I pray that continues, and the the nurse will beat this and be reunited with her beloved pup.

There, my vent is finished......

Much Love,

I heard an interview on CNN on the way to work this a.m. about Bently, the pup in Texas. Sounds like he is doing AMAZING! He will be in quarantine until Nov 1. He is showing no symptoms. He's getting pampered like crazy (has toys, etc). Has a 'home-like' quarantine area. All in all - much different than the Spain situation which sickens me on so many levels ...

But I wanted to weigh in that I heard Bently is doing well and so far so good! Fingers crossed!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Aww thanks Sally, I know Excalibur can feel how much he was loved around the world.

That broke my heart when I read about it last week on Dr. Kay's blog. Until then I had no idea this horrible thing happened. Thanks for taking the time to honor this innocent soul.

Thanks for posting this Sally. I truly thought that the cries from people all over the world would be heard for this pup. They euthanized him out of pure fear of the unknown and fear should never have control. I read somewhere that the nurse in Texas went ballistic over her dog thinking they would euthanize it. Hats off to her!!

I'm so sorry Excaliber that you were not shown the compassion you so deserved.  May you run free and play with all the fur kids there at the Bridge.

Sally,

Thank you for sharing this...I had not heard anything about it.  It's so disheartening hearing stories like this where people seem to have lost their basic humanity.  I understand this is a serious issue but we're not dragging people out that may be sick and euthanizing them.  It's just so sad....sad

And I'm glad to hear Bentley is doing well.  Way to go Bentley!!

Just heartbreaking...so wrong on so many levels. Thanks for the thoughtful post, Sally. No doubt he is a hero over the bridge, and nurse Teresa has the best guardian Angel she could hope for.

I pray that he had a well deserved special welcome party, and pray that his mom gets better and that both his parents can take some small comfort in the support of so many around the world.

RIP, Excaliber. Your loss will not be forgotten, and you are a hero to many.

Thoughts and prayers to the two stateside nurses and to Bentley...so glad that he is getting great treatment through his quarantine.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Today show did a segment on Bentley this morning.  He has tested negative for Ebola and he's running around playing and wagging his tail with a person in the special suit.  He looked well and seems to be taking everything in stride.

Way to go Bentley...hang in there!!
