I am so sorry you lost your Winston. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family.
Catherine
Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
so sorry to read that winston has passed. you gave him a final, selfless gift by helping him transition on to his next adventure. time will slowly help to ease the pain and sadness that overwhelms you now...love never ends.
charon & spirit gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
I can't think of anything bad that comes with having a pet except that they are not with us nowhere near long enough. How wonderful they are makes it so much harder. Sitting here knowing exactly how you feel and sending you prayers for strength to get through this. You will probably be in shock the first few day or so and then it will hit you so you will need strength to navigate yourself through this very difficult time. Nothing will probably make you feel better for a long while but at least you have the comfort in knowing that you did all you could for Winston and he had a wonderful life with you. He knows you loved him enough to let him go. So sorry for your loss. Give yourself all the time you need and take care of yourself.
So sorry to hear that Winston's time came so soon. I know you are hurting right now, but we are here for you.
Sending you hugs,
Jenna & Spirit Chili Dawg
Diagnosed with OSA: 5/2/2011 Ampuversary: 5/11/2011 OSA returned in hip: 8/26/2011
Chili Dawg crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 8/30/2011 & is now pain free. He was my heart dog, and I miss him every day.
It is never easy listening to the ones you love when it is their time. We are so sorry for your loss. I read a story some time ago that
involved letting a family pet go. There was a child that summed up why our furry kids lives are so short. Because they don’t have to learn to love, they already know how to love unconditionally.
So don’t beat yourself up, you did a difficult thing but it was the right choice. You showed Winston “unconditional
love”.
Boomer and family
It's never, ever, ever easy to say goodbye, but Winston's running free and without pain with so many other beloveds. So sorry for your loss.

Birthday – November 4 2003
Amputation – January 13 2010
Crossed the Bridge – June 2 2011
This is a painful, sad time for you and there is not much we can say to comfort you except to promise that your heart will heal (except for that little hole that is Winston). Until then, hang on. Cry when you need to, rail at the unfairness of it all, talk to friends who understand and, most of all, remember the happy times your shared with you furkid.
Beth and Spirit Smiln' Sammy
Smilin' Sammy, March 16, 2004 – Dec. 5, 2011
Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.
We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.
My heart goes out to you for the loss of Winston. Many of us were in your place in recent months so we understand the sadness and pain involved. Please be at peace knowing you did the right thing by giving him that last gift. Many tears are falling for you today.
Geraldine & Spirit Jewels
Jewels was a gorgeous Lab-Shep mix that found us at the pet rescue when she was just 3 months old. Born June 2000; Diagnosed OSA on June 1, 2011; L-front Amputation September 12, 2011; Crossed Rainbow Bridge December 30, 2011. My "baby dog" will always be in my heart. Now she is running fast and free on all four legs after the rabbits and squirrels! Jewels was loved by her crazy-busy mom, even-keeled dad, pesky twin human brothers and monkeydog sister Aspen. Read about Jewels' Tripawd Journey here.
I am so very sorry for your loss... I hope you are able to remember him with smiles soon...

Such a hard tradeoff, opening our hearts to loving a dog and then having our hearts broken when it's obvious they are ready to leave. You didn't make Winston hurt and you made sure it was about him, not about your desires. That's what love is. He knew you loved him.
I wish you peace in the coming days. They won't be easy, but they will get better. Remember the times before all this mess; that will help.

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.
