2 years ago last month I lost my Sammy to the fight against bone cancer.  I still think of him so very often.  Some times a week goes by, very rarely a month will go by and then I will think of him yet again.  He comes to me in flashes of memories.

I remember how funny he was.  He would lie on his back and wag his tail furiously and so very quickly until I laughed.  He would growl at me and press his head hard into my stomach, growling and wagging his tail.  He always made me smile.

I miss him so very much.  I love him still, always, and forever.

Thank you Admin for making this place for the people to come with their questions, their fears, their grief.  I can't imagine how hard it would be to continue to make this work but I am so grateful you do.  You have the hearts of warriors.

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us.  Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.

I truly believe that in those precious moments Sammy is reaching out from the rainbow bridge letting you know "I'm alright momma!" and making you smile like he always did. The love you have for him goes on forever, he knows it, and he wants you to know that he loves you too! I believe thats where those flashes of memory come from 🙂

This is a great place of comfort here. I didn't know your story or Sammy (I didn't start coming around here until May '13), but I'd love to see some pics of him. THAT smile of his in your avatar picture is AMAZING!!

Elizabeth!  So good to hear from you.  I remember literally sobbing when you lost Sammy and, just so you know, I still think of you guys.  I don't believe that our loved ones are watching out for us 24 hours a day - after all, that wouldn't be much of a Heavenly existence - but, I do believe that they come to us in our hearts and memories during special or difficult times.  Sammy will always be with you until your time comes to join him.  Hope you are doing well!

Lisa

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11.  A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

No, thank you for checking in Elizabeth! It's words like yours that make the work we do all worthwhile.

We will never forget Super Sammy's Smile, but thank you for the reminder.

Peace.

It's so good to hear from you Elizabeth, hard to believe two years have gone by. Meeting you and Sammy was something we will never, ever forget. He was such a big ol' love. I know how much you miss him, he was definitely a once in a lifetime dog.

Odd that you wrote, I was thinking of you the other day when I received a review copy of the paperback edition of "Pukka's Promise." It was you who first told us about it, I've wanted to read it ever since. Great book.

I hope that you and the pack are well. You are always a part of the family here, we'd love to hear how things have been.

Thank you all for your kind words.

Hello Lisa, I think of you too, and so many more of our tripawds that have gone to the otherside.  Charlie is the only one left from our time who is still with us.  Epic, that is the word I would use to describe the time I spent with all of you and my beautiful boy.  It was like we were all on the battlefield together and fighting the most intense fight of our lives.  I am sorry we lost our beautiful boy's and girls to this disease, but if I had to pick people to be in the battle with me, I am so glad that I had all of you.

For those of you who didn't know Sammy and who are in the fight now, I pray for you and hurt for you and always hope for you.

Hugs to you admin.
