I held Brody in my arms as we let him go on June 20th. I have tried to write several times before but could never finish. It is hard to let him go. I looked him in his eyes and told him I loved his so much until his last breath. Our vet was very kind and came over so we could do it in a comfortable place in the grass.
I am so thankful. His fight was short only being diagnosed with osteosarcoma on April 23rd. We amputated on May 9th and did two rounds of chemo, but the cancer spread too quickly to his lungs. He was such a brave spirit up to to very end and a beautiful and strong six year old wiemaraner. Even as he lay there the last morning, short of breath and could barely move, the love and loyalty never wavered in his eyes. An occasional tail wag let me know that he was going to be alright. We did absolutely everything that we could.
My son just turned six months and I truly believe that Brody waited until he came along to leave me. Him getting sick was written in the stars and he waited until I had someone else to take care of and love so much. That was his greatest gift to me. I cry everyday and miss him everyday. I will always love my handsome “Bubby”.
I am so sorry for your loss. It is easy to feel your love for Brody in what you wrote. It has been eight years since I lost my first dog and the pain was so severe I didn't think I would ever have another dog. However, when you balance how much they add to our lives against how much it hurts to lose them the joy does outweigh the pain. Now I am the proud mother of three more dogs, and am going through cancer with Emily. Anyway, the reason that I am sharing this is to say that the joy that Brody brought you will be stronger than your pain with time.
Debra & Emily, a five year old doberman mix, who was diagnosed with an osteosaecoma. She had a right rear leg amputation on May 19, 2009. On November 10, 2009 she earned her wings and regained her fourth leg.
Brody generous nature is enbedded in your note. What a special friend he was. May your happy memories soon replace the pain you now feel.
RIP sweet Brody. Run free at rainbow bridge.

We are so, so sorry, and sending lots of love and comfort your way. Losing a fur kid is such a hard thing to experience. You did do so much for him. We hope you can find some amount solace in knowing that he didn't suffer.
Oh, Brody, what a young, brave warrior you were. Your strong spirit will always shine brightly in our hearts. Although you may be physically gone, we know that all we have to do is look around and listen for your signals. . . we know you'll always be at your Mom's side, and helping to guide all the other Tripawd heroes along through their own journeys.
Many hugs,
Rene, Jim and Spirit Jerry

I add more sorrow...it is so hard to lose a fur-baby. How special for him to know to the end how much he was loved.

Thank you everyone for your thought of love and comfort. This such an amazing website! Even with the outcome I would have changed nothing. Thank you for the stories and the encouragement to help me make some tough decisions and help me give Brody every fighting chance possible. My thoughts will be with all the brave moms and dads that continue to fight on. Thank you again everyone! You are right Brody will always always be surrounding me in his spirit.
