My people just received this video from the author of The Healing Art of Pet Parenthood

.

This new book on coping with the loss of your beloved pet

follows the journey Nadine M. Rosin into the emotional healing and self-awareness she develops over nineteen years through the unconditional love of her dog, Buttons.

It also explores the world of holistic pet care to successfully treat canine cancer. Diagnosed with cancer at age eight, with a prognosis of just six weeks, Buttons died of natural causes just a week short of her 19th birthday! Nadine helped Buttons win her battle with cancer thanks to all natural remedies described in the book.

Comments are welcomed from anyone who read this touching story.

I've just read this book, and as a dog parent I am completely moved and inspired by this story. I learned a lot about natural pet care, even though this book reads very much like a novel. The author really has a way of capturing her audience. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fellow dog parent!

Beautiful video clip.  I just tried to order the book.  Looks like the release date is May 15th. We can't wait.  While my amazing dog has been sick, I have had people say that "I should remember that he is just a dog". Instead of getting angry, I have realized that these people are so less fortunate then we are.  We know how it feels to love, and to be loved by our dogs.  Others have obviously not had this same experience. I will add that my husband, and 3 human children feel like I do.  Charlie is family.

I am looking forward to reading about Buttons and Nadine and learning from their story.

I agree that anyone who says "just a dog" can't possibly understand the bond we have with our people. But my pawrents learned alot about coping with the passing of a pet from Cesar's Way

.

Cesar Milan politely reminds human readers that we are, after all, dogs. Not "just dogs" of course, but dogs nonetheless. He suggests that by the time we dogs are two years old, we have lived a happier, fuller life than most people ever do in all their days. And he discusses how as pack animals, we face death directly with with dignity and without fear.

Yes, these are hard concepts to grasp when your baby has fur and three (or four) legs. But my people hope that when my time comes they will able to be strong pack leaders.

Hello, just wanted to let you know that my mom ordered her book and cannot wait to get it.   She feels the same way as all of you when it comes to people telling her about "it is just a dog".  The funny thing is that most of my pawrents friends have dogs themselves so they understand.  And the ones that do not have any pets, my mom has made it a point throughout the years to let them know that me and my 2 brothers are not just dogs but her kids..so now whenever they talk about us they refer to us as Isabel's kids....way to go MOM!!!!!
