It has taken me a few days to collect myself and my thoughts and have the courage to post this note. On Tuesday, Nov. 25 we had to make the very difficult decision to free our baby girl Kellie from her pain. Since being diagnosed with osteosarcoma and becoming a tripawd back in April, she gave it her all. She did great on her surgery, her chemo and had a happy and marvelous summer. Unfortunately in September she started to deteriorate very rapidly. Her rear legs started to give up on her but she still kept on trying and making sure to give us some more beautiful moments with her. Just in the past couple of weeks it was not much fun any more and she was in pain. Could not walk, or stand up and eventhough her spirit and courage was still there, her big brown eyes were growing tired. As much as we loved her and still do, we could not bring ourselves to have her in discomfort and suffering just for our sake. So, in what I want to believe was an act of unselfishness and love, we set her free. Although it was just before the Thanksgiving holiday and our hearts were breaking, we still felt lucky and thankful for the 11 wonderful years that Kellie gave us and thank the Lord for giving us the chance to adopt her and make her part of our lives. I had a dream just before Thanksgiving in which I saw my baby girl, happy again and eating some turkey legs with that handsome dude Jerry. I know in my heart she is okay and Jerry and all her newfound friends are keeping her safe until the day we meet again. I want to thank all of you for all your messages and all your beautiful thoughts. Much love from all of us, Isabel, Wayne and my sunshine girl Kellie.

Dear Isabel and Wayne, I'm so sorry you had to say good-bye to your sweet Kellie. I know first-hand how hard it is. You did everything you could to make this last chapter of her life wonderful and pain free. Your decision was right and I'm sure she is grateful you released her. I am just as certain that she is running free and safe in the care of her creator and you will see her again. You are in my thoughts and prayers~ His peace, di

The "time" always comes, and while it is never easy, it is your responsibility. You did the right thing by believing in your heart.
Healing is a most difficult thing. It will take time. But it will happen. Hopefully knowing that Kellie is free from her broken body and running happily on the beach with me helps at least a little.
Thank you for sharing her story – and for your continued support – here in the forums. Peace.

Just want to say thanks for all your thoughts and all your support. It has been a difficult week but knowing that when my heart is aching I can some to the site and find all of you, old and new friends, always willing to lend a helping hand and to give a word of wisdom and love, makes it much easier to take. Kellie was a part of the tripawd family and will always be, so we both will still be here sharing and helping others the same way all of you offered us. Lots of love and bless all of you, Isabel and Kellie

Isabel,
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for continuing to help others on Tripawds. What a nice surprise it's been to see your responses to the posts lately.
You have gained so much wisdom and insight after your experiences with Kellie, and we just want to thank you for sharing it with others and helping them to get through the amputation/cancer ordeal. You are so very sweet.
Hope you are doing OK. We know it's not easy. If you want to talk, we're here.
Many hugs to you.
