It was 2 months ago today that our sweet 5 year old Black Lab, Paris became a heavenly angel. As most of you know Paris lived one year and 3 days after amputation. She was an amazing cancer warrior, living life fully until the very end!
I was blessed recently to have 4 weeks in Florida. I walked everyday on the beautiful white sand beaches and the Gulf which was very cathartic. During that time, I knew when we got home it was time to find our new canine daughter!
Once again I find myself rescuing a dog……..but who is the rescue-er or the rescue-ee??!! Her name is Addy…..she is a big part of healing after the loss of Paris. Addy is a rescue by Homeward Bound, taken out of a kill shelter in Kentucky. She is 1 1/2 years old and is a beautiful, sweet dog. She is not a replacement…..there will never be another Paris!! We deliberately chose a Yellow Lab, so she would have her own identity.
We picked her up yesterday and she is learning about life at our house. She cried some at first…..and is a little confused, but as I am writing this she has settled into her new bed and seems quite comfy!!
Addy will fill our lives with love, smiles and laughter!! I am a better person with a dog.
Love and thanks to all that have supported me over the past 2 months, I will continue to honor Paris by keeping a presence here at Tripawds, you all mean the world to me.
Ginny
Grateful for every moment we had with Paris…..no regrets!
Honoring her life by opening our hearts & home to Addy!
Addy is beautiful! I think no home is complete without a dog so I am very happy for you. It makes me think about A Dog's Heart that I posted a while ago. Each dog we bring into our lives do indeed gift us a part of their hearts. What could be more beautiful. Congratulations.
Debra & Angel Emily
Debra & Emily, a five year old doberman mix, who was diagnosed with an osteosaecoma. She had a right rear leg amputation on May 19, 2009. On November 10, 2009 she earned her wings and regained her fourth leg.
Addy looks so very sweet! We can't wait to hear more about her. She's sure to bring smiles! And she's such a lucky dog to have you as her mom, Ginny! We hope to meet her if there's a Chicagoland tripawd party... 🙂
Holly and Holly's mom
Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

OH GINNY! I'm soooooooooo happy! It brings tears to my eyes knowing that you have a beautiful girl to love! I wondered when you would find your sweetie pie.
I think she looks like a bigger version of Comet! What do you think? (So, you know how I feel how she looks since Comet is the prettiest-- whatever she is!)
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
What a lucky girl to have you find her and give her a new life. Paris is surely beaming, knowing how much love you have to give. I, too, am a happier perosn with a canine in my life, so I know exactly where you're coming from.
I hate to admit it, but I have little weepy tears flowing. At least this time it is in celebration.
BTW, Paris will always be alive here, each time i see her banner, she is remembered fondly. I am very thankful for all the pawrents of angel heros who choose to stay here and contribute. It is very heartwarming.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

Hi Ginny,
Congratulations on your newest addition to the family!! Addy looks absolutely gorgeous!! She is one lucky dog to have you as her new forever family!!! I look forward to reading all about her new adventures with you!
I'm sure that Paris is looking down at you from heaven, and is happy that her family has rescued Addy... I know that your heart is still broken from loosing Paris... but Addy will help you to heal... There will never be another Paris... no one can ever take her place... but Addy needed someone to love and take care of her... so that is a great thing!!
Sending you all a big hug!!!

Congratulations Ginny! I hope you'll share stories of Addy--she's beautiful (and she looks a lot like my Alle, only younger). I love that as you rescued her, she's rescuing you. People need dogs. And you honor Paris by taking another dog into your life. Bless you.

What a gorgeous girl!!! She will think all of her Christmas's have come at once after a few days with you as her new owner.
Koda blushed a little and started to go a bit weak at the knees when I showed him Addy's pic!!!!! He said to tell you that he approves a whole lot!!!!

GINNY!!! She is SOOOOO CUTE! What a cute little puppy face (i wish ALL dogs looked as puppy-sh when they grow up!) 🙂 I'm sure you will teach her all sorts of things about life, love, and companionship...all things that Paris showed you.
