Hi Everyone,
I know I haven't been on Tripawds much lately - to tell you the truth, I've been having a very hard time with my loss. Today is an even harder day for me because today is Mackenzie's birthday and she would have been 9 years old. For those of you who don't know, she left us on Dec 29th and I've been so heartbroken ever since.
I wanted to share with you a beautiful drawing of Mackenzie that Nicole (Chloe's Mom) did for me when Mackenzie was set free. It captures everything about Mackenzie - her beautiful golden smile and loving personality. I never got the chance to formally thank Nicole for the beautiful picture as it was too hard on me emotionally to share this until now. Thank you so much Nicole - I just love this picture and I have it framed in a very special place for everyone to see as they enter my house.
I also wanted to share my favorite video of Mackenzie - Ocean Girl - this was taken only a month before we lost her. She always loved the water and always loved the ocean. This shows how much she really loved life. The images of her bouncing in and out of the water will be with me forever....
And finally, for those of you who may not know about Mackenzie, she was a beautiful golden who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma at the young age of 7 1/2 in Sept 2009 and had her amputation in Nov 2009. She left to go to the rainbow bridge on Dec 29, 2010. I will be forever grateful to tripawds and all of the great friendships I've made, all of whom have helped me through this very difficult journey. We had a wonderful year and 1/2 with her following her diagnosis and for that, I will always be forever blessed. She was my world, my rock, my everything and I miss her so much.
Happy birthday my beautiful angel!!
Kami
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Hi Kami
What a beautiful drawing that is and how special to have that now.
That is an amazing video - Mackenzie was getting around so well - it is hard to see who has three legs and who has four at some spots. That is a great video to show how well some tripawds can do, and also another case of another one of our dogs thoroughly enjoying life right up to the end.
We'll be thinking of the birthday girl today.
Oh Kami. Happy birthday to dear, dear Mackenzie. That video makes my heart both sing and weep at the same time; I can only imagine what it does to yours.
Beautiful beautiful drawing by Nicole; it does SO capture the essence of Mackenzie. What a lovely talent she has!
You are in my thoughts, Kami.
Hugs.
Carmen

Oh Kami, I always loved that video of Mackenzie. It's still so hard to believe she was gone just a month later. I know how hard these days are for you & especially today, her birthday. Thank you for sharing her again & reminding all of us to treasure every moment we are blessed to share with our dogs, because we don't know what tomorrow will bring.
Thinking of you & Mackenzie,

Beautiful indeed. Please try to remember that Mackenzie would never want you to be sad. Especially on her birthday!

Happy Birthday to a beautiful girl inside and out. We miss you so much Mackenzie.
But we know you, Comet, Fortis, Trouble, Jane and all of our special angel friends are playing and having a great time! You led the way for all your close friends so they wouldn't be scared!
Notice Comet wasn't going to let you guys have all the fun without her! Word has it, all the ball players have their own team now that it's baseball season - The Tripawd Team!
Go Team Tripawds!

You are SO welcome Kami!! It was my pleasure and I am so pleased that you love the drawing! Happy birthday to your Angel Mackenzie!
-Nicole aka. Chloe's mom
Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
beautiful mackenzie - a perfect birthday angel.

Love Never Ends
Well, there goes the waist again, but I can't think of a better reason to celebrate. Kami, how 'bout we use today to celebrate the great life she had. Happy Birthday Mackenzie. I hope you met Gus and told him how great your mom was to you, Big Paws up to Mackenzie, Spirit Gus and Dan
My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010
I am so sorry for your loss. I know how it hurts from my own experience. I lost my 15 yr old half Golden and half Aussie Shep on Nov 29th 2010. It's never easy to say goodbye.
What I do know is that it does get better, and the day is coming when you can think of her without any pain, only good memories.
The picture is great, and the video is so sweet. She's a beautiful girl.
Dear Kami,
Angel Tai assures me that she and Mackenzie are having fun swimming and chasing about with all of their tripawd (now once again quadpawd) friends. They celebrate birthdays everyday!!
I understand how much your heart aches for Mackenzie, I suffer the same with my loss of Tai. It is a hole that will never heal and an almost daily flow of tears. We feel like we have lost our soulmates.
Mackenzie was truly beautiful and her smiling face will stay in my memory forever. What a happy dog!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET MACKENZIE. Run free and give Tai a big golden kiss from me.
Laura
Tai – 9 yr old lab. Diagnosed Osteosarcoma Dec 18/09. Front right leg amputated Dec 21/09. Started chemo Jan 7/10. Lung mets discovered Sept 16/10. Valiant to the end on Oct 26/10 when cancer reappeared in a leg and we made the decision to set her free. Forever in my heart where not even cancer can take her from me.
