I'm so sorry. Its really easy to second guess things when you are looking back with full knowledge now of what the future held. You did the best for Quila. Lori said it great, we all have guilt trips no matter what decisions we make. I know its hard when those "what ifs" and "I should've" thoughts creep in. Try to remember that cancer was only a tiny piece of Quila's life, and the more we dwell on the cancer, the more cancer digs its claws in and the more it continues to win. You said the last year was full joy, and we would love to hear about it and celebrate all the joys with you!
HUGS
Mom to Tripawd Angels Jake (2001-2014) and Rosco (2012-2015) and Tripawd Tanner. “Whatever happens tomorrow, we had today; and I'll always remember it”
So, so sorry for the loss of your beautiful furbaby, Quila. Sending you huge hugs and sweet memories of your baby.
Joan and Lily
Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.
So very sorry. Hold her memories close to help you through this difficult time.
Take care-
Luanne and Spirit Shooter
Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.
Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.
Quila... what a beautiful name for a beautiful girl..
The Bridge actually just became more beautiful with her arrival!
It hurts to lose our loved pets... to let that leash go for the last time... it hurts. And yes... many of us have lost pets in the past, whether it be dogs, cats, guinea pigs, birds, whatever. The fact is that we have loved these sweet four/three legged furkids for a while.. they have given us their love back, not asking for anything in return. And we have protected them, cared for them, made sure they were comfortable, fed, loved, snuggled and had their special treat for the day or a belly rub before bed. and it hurts to give all that up.
But the one thing that you will never give up is the love in your heart... you can feel it.. always. You will feel Quila there.. she's there.. always will be. Her memories are forever in your soul... nothing can take that away.
We all understand here... when other people raise an eyebrow at you, you know that won't happen here!
We all have some regrets after our tripawds run for the Bridge... it is normal.. But try not to spend too much time on regretting or feeling guilty. Spend more time on feeling the love. And smile because you had a glorious year together after her amputation!! A Year!!! Wonderful!
Christine.... with Franklin in her heart♥
Franklin, he was the Happiest Dog on Three Legs! Diagnosed 09/26/2012 with Osteosarcoma, amputated 12/4/2012. Had a wonderful 5 1/2 months painfree until he ran for the Bridge on 5/15/2013. Always in my heart, and always a guardian angel of my pack... You can follow his Tripawd Adventures, before and after, in my blog, Frank'n'Farter!
