Magnum (aka Princess)
30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012
Our beautiful little girl - so loyal, courageous, spirited and loving.
Her love of life was with her to the end.
Passed peacefully in her loving mum's arms.
Forever loved.
Magnum wasn't responding to the pain meds last night and was the worst I'd seen her on her back leg. A trip to the hospital this morning confirmed my worst fears. She had osteosarcoma in her hip. It looked worse than the first tumour that took her leg. The vet was very worried that she was in danger of a fracture and cautioned us against trying to take her home. The spirit was willing but her body was failing. Instead of the home farewell I had hoped for we said goodbye in the hospital.
But Magnum was so brave to the end. She was resting more comfortably with extra pain meds. We played lazy ball (catching and throwing in a seated position) which had her excited and happy. She then got some yummy chicken pieces and liver treats. I then lay and cuddled and stroked her for a very long time. She enjoyed the caresses and as she slept relaxed and happy we knew it was time. She was never afraid. She was relaxed and content in my arms as she slipped away.
The grief is overwhelming. My heart is breaking. Thank you all for your support. I will be back when I can write with less tears. I want people to know what an amazing and special dog Magnum was and how she fared in her journey with cancer in the hope that it might help someone else as others stories have helped me.
Karen
P.S. Princess was the breeders pet name for Magnum. I used it when I joined this website because I felt superstitious about using her real name. The things we do!
Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/

I am terribly sorry for your loss. I can tell how very much you love Magnum. Her memories will live on forever. Someone sent me a card when one of my Dogs passed away and what it said was so simple but I loved it. It was.....
When tomorrow starts without me
Don't think we're far apart
For everytime you think of me I'm right here in your heart
Prayers of comfort and healing going out for you and your family.
we're so sorry to read that magnum has passed. you gave her a final, selfless gift by releasing her from her broken body. we know the overwhelming sadness and emptiness you are now feeling, but hopefully, with time, the wonderful memories of your special girl will help dry some of your tears. love never ends.

Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Karen,

Suzie
Jack Russell born in 2001. Mast cell cancer found Dec 2009 and right rear amputation. Five rounds of chemo done before all treatment stopped. Living life to the fullest!! Read my story at http://rizzo.tripawds.com
I'm so sorry to read of your loss of Magnum. She knew she was loved and I'm sure she had a wonderful life with you. It is so hard when they are gone. When we end their pain ours begins.
Will be thinking of you, Come here and tell us more about her if you feel up to it at some point. I found it helps to talk and write about our angels.
She is running pain free now with the other heroes that went before her,
Jackie, Angel Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. I am so sorry for your loss. Magnum was a beautiful, brave girl. Your family will be in my thoughts during this most difficult time...
Lisa
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

My deepest condolences to you and your family on the loss of your brave and beautiful Princess. I know your heart is breaking...it'll take some time to soften the ache. Angel put it so well, every time you think of her, she's right there in your heart. Cancer may have taken her, but it can no way take from your heart.
Sending you healing thoughts,
Anita, mom to Xena & Roger, and my angels,Spammy & Chloe
Rest in peace Magnum.

So very sorry to hear of Magnum's loss; she was a beautiful girl and a fighter right to the end. I am glad you were able to have those special moments with her and that she transitioned peacefully to her next adventure. She'll have a warm welcome at the bridge, and our thoughts are with you and your family.
Catherine and SPirit Scout
Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
I'm so sorry for your loss, I know your heart is breaking. Magnum will be missed but never forgotten. She was a true Tripawd warrior. Run free Magnum!
Laura of Kali and Angel Tai
Tai – 9 yr old lab. Diagnosed Osteosarcoma Dec 18/09. Front right leg amputated Dec 21/09. Started chemo Jan 7/10. Lung mets discovered Sept 16/10. Valiant to the end on Oct 26/10 when cancer reappeared in a leg and we made the decision to set her free. Forever in my heart where not even cancer can take her from me.

Karen,
I am so sorry Magnum's time to move on has come. You did a loving, selfless thing today by setting her free. I hope that the wonderful memories you built together will ease your pain just a litte during the coming days and weeks.
She will always be in your heart, and so will always be by your side.
I completely understand your superstition too.
Karen and Spirit Maggie
