Today our boy Riley lost his battle. He was a solider to the end. He was much sicker than he lead on to be. 2 days ago he was running up and down the stairs like a puppy then his body could not lie anymore and he passed this morning due to multiple issues caused by the cancer. We will miss him deeply.
I wanted to thank everyone on tripawds for all the valuable information and unbelieveable support.
Thank you all from our hearts,
John

Angel Jake and Wolfie's Mom
Jake, 10yr old golden retriever (fractured his front right leg on 9/1, bone biopsy revealed osteosarcoma on 9/10, amputation on 9/17) and his family Marguerite, Jacques and Wolfie, 5yr old german shepherd and the newest addition to the family, Nala, a 7mth old Bengal mix kittie. Jake lost his battle on 11/9/2009, almost 8 weeks after his surgery. We will never forget our sweet golden angel… http://jakesjou.....ipawds.com ….. CANCER SUCKS!
It is heartbreaking news to hear, especially since I remember you posting updates about how well he was doing before... I would love to honor Riley by adding his name to the back of my shirt I will be wearing for a K9 Cancer Walk in October. Chloe and I will be participating in this walk as a way to celebrate her recovery and to walk for dogs who will not be there, whether it be because they live far away or because they have passed. For example we will be walking for our dog Bonnie who lost her battle to lymphoma many years ago.
Here is a link to page 3 of my forum which shows the progress on my shirt (scroll to see front). Page 4 and 5 show the updated shirt back with the names. Ignore the posts about the "deadline" since that pertained to an online version of the shirt. I am still adding names to my shirt since I write them all in by hand...

Oh I'm so very, very sorry you lost your Riley.
It's so heartbreaking. We all understand but that isn't much comfort we know. Just please know we are here to help in anyway. It's our love of our dogs that brings us all here whether they are in the 'now' or in the 'spirit'.
My deepest condolences to your family. Sending many, many virtual hugs.

Kami, Mackenzie & Kobe
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
John, Tina, Chris, Jensen, and Spirit Riley,
We are very sorry to hear that Riley's battle has come to an end, and hope that you can accept our deepest sympathy at this time. The manner that he battled so very hard and ignored just how sick he really was, is a testimony to the quality of his bond with his family and the love that you shared. Please find some comfort in this love and remember that you will never be totaly without Riley because the gift that he gave you will be with you forever.
Spirit Cherry's Dad
Oh we are so deeply sorry to hear this. This cancer thing is so unfair, his battle was far too short. We hope you can take some comfort in knowing that you did everything you pawsibly could for him, and that his last remaining days were spent pain-free and loving life.
Our Triley the Rock Star will always be remembered here. May his spirit soar with the Tripawds community forever.
Many hugs coming your way.
