We are sad to say that our dog Gaby passed onto the Rainbow Bridge today . She is now pain and cancer free running around on all 4 legs chasing rabbits and squirrels. She put up a great fight right to the end and went peacefully when the time came. RIP Gaby Girl...we love you and miss you very much.
We were able to enjoy and cherish every moment with her since her amputation on Oct. 25, 2011. The past couple of days the pain seemed to increase and her back legs were starting to go. We just didn't want her to suffer anymore so we did what we thought was right. Surprisingly (right now anyway) I am okay with everything just knowing that she went peacefully and is not in pain.
I can't even begin to tell you how Tripawds has gotten me though the past 3 months. I know I don't post a lot on here, but I sure do read and take in everything everyone has to offer. Thanks for all of the support.
Joanie, Doug, and Angel Gaby
Oh, I'm so sorry to read of Gaby's passing. I'm glad you are feeling at peace with your decision. It is the last, great gift we can give our pups when they are suffering.
Angel Abby is there to greet Angel Gaby and show her all the best spots. (The truth is, though, that ALL the spots are best...)
Thinking of you and Doug on this difficult day.
Jackie, Angel Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
So sorry that Gaby wasn't given more time but so happy that her last months were good ones, bonus months full of love and fun. It's never an easy thing to do, giving that last gift, but when it's obviously the right thing to do it helps tremendously. Gaby will run whole again, well and happy.
I just noticed that you are in Colorado. I am, too. I wish I'd seen that earlier; I don't know where you are but perhaps we can meet sometime. Connecting here makes this journey so much more bearable. Hugs to you and your family.
Shari, Dakota and Evelyn
From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.
Dakota's thoughtful and erudite blog is at http://shari.tr.....pawds.com/
Oh, I'm am just so sorry!
I always thought how beautiful she was each time I saw her avatar.
As sad and empty as your heart is, I know that there is a lot of peace that comes with knowing the she did not suffer and that you gave her all the wonderful things a dog could want in life.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help your heartache. As you know, we are here and are always ready to hear a great Gaby story we didn't know!
My sincerest condolences to you and your family.
Gaby, you are now a beautiful Angel Tripawd Warrior Princess that has reached the heavens and will sparkle in the skies at night. May you sparkle brightly forever.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
I am so sorry to hear about Gaby. All to often, this site brings ths kind of news and each time we all hurt with the knowledge that another brave warrior has lost the fight. I know how your heart must be aching, but you loved her enough to give her the ultimate gift — the ability to play pain-free with the brave Tripawds on the other side of the bridge. Run like the wind, Angel Gaby!
I hope you find peace and joy in the loving memories of your girl, Joanie and Doug. it takes a while, but each day the pain eases and the smiles returm.
With sympathy,
Beth, Rick and Spirit Sammy
Smilin' Sammy, March 16, 2004 – Dec. 5, 2011
Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.
We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.
we are so sorry to read of gaby's passing. you gave her a wonderful life, and a final, selfless gift by releasing her from her broken body. hopefully the many memories you made with her will help, with time, to dry the tears that will fall. love never ends.
charon & spirit gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Awww. Gaby, What a beautiful girl! I know how hard it is to let them go. Gaby is so lucky to have had you to help her get to Rainbow Bridge, the place she needed to go. Valentina is there waiting to romp around with Gaby and welcome her to a new place free of pain and full of everything Dogs love. Praying for you and your family and wishing you peace and comfort at this extremely difficult time. It's only been four days for me and Valentina never leaves my mind. I'm pushing on but it is very hard. Only time can help to heal our sorrow and the memories of our babies will live on forever.
