The words are too hard for me right now after seeing the beautiful video.
I love you Fortissima Del Colosseo. You made my world a much brighter place.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Brett, I don't know how you and Patty found the strength to make that video but you did a fantastic job. In the few months I have known you and Fortis it has been obvious he was special, as all our buddies are, they each have something unique about them and Fortis was no different. I find it hard to come up with words to express my sorrow, you and Patty have my deepest sympathy, Rest In Peace Fortis, Spirit Gus and Dan
My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010
Farewell our beautiful massive warrior. I so wish I could say something to take the pain away, but I know that is an impossibility. I think no one is truly prepared for the finality. I think it is good to let the tears flow. The journey we are on is a highly emotional one, one where we must have strength, one where our decisions count, tears are a release from the intense emotions that have ruled your life for 11 months.
Like Comet, I am at a loss to say anything meaningful. My heart breaks for you, as I know the intensity of your pain. I can only wish the beautiful memories soon ease your pain. You and Fortis have become a wonderful part of my life and I share your grief today. Fortis will live forever in my heart.
RIP sweet Fortis, Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

That video is absolutely beautiful... As I posted on your blog, the tears are flowing here in Maine for your big boy. He was special... A true Tripawd Hero for SURE.
Many, many hugs,

Maggie lost her battle with kidney disease on 8-24-13
Brett & Pattie,
Thank you for so eloquently sharing Fortis' beautiful life and journey. Nothing can temper the pain & emptiness you feel, be sad now - the life you shared with Fortis is precious - and worth being sad over. Fortis' spirit, strength and love will help replace your tears with joyful memories when the time is right.
I'm deeply sorry for your loss. My thoughts & prayers are with you.
Cynthia
Brett and Pattie,
Oh God, I can't stop the tears. I am sobbing right now. Thank you so much for giving us a chance to get to know Fortis, he is truly a wonderful soul. I am so sorry, I can't begin to imagine how you must be feeling. I feel like I lost a friend today.
To my husband and I, you and Fortis have been a cornerstone to this special place. We send our love to you and our prayers for Fortis. He has helped me to get over my fear of brindle colored dogs, and big scary looking ones at that. It took but a moment for me to see in his eyes what a magnificent boy he is. Thank you Fortis for gracing our lives. To me and so many others, Fortis was truly one in a million.

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
Brett and Pattie,
I am so sorry, that just sounds so inadequate right now, I wish I had words to help comfort you at this time. I as so many of us understand the sadness, the emptiness, that lost feeling you are going through right now, the pain is incredible, I know. My deepest condolances. My tears are flowing along with yours today.
Fortis, the gentle giant, you hold a very special place in my heart, you will be missed by all.
Rest in Peace Fortis.

Oh, I'm so sorry to read this. Fortis, our big brave hero. What a beautiful tribute you made for him - it shows all the love you three shared. (and reminded me of what a trooper he was - all those disguises!) We are weeping here today, and are sending comforting thoughts your way.
Deepest condolences from everyone in our home. He truly touched us all.
Sending big, Fortis sized hugs your way, and some Wheaten kisses too,
Holly, Zuzu and Susan
Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

Brett & Pattie,
I can barely type this through my tears. The world was a better place with Fortis in it...now the Rainbow Bridge is a better place because of him.
I don't know how you had the strength to put that wonderful video together. My heart aches for you. He gave you such great friendship and love, you were very lucky to have had him in your lives...
Godspeed sweet gentle Fortis.

Wow! Man, I am absolutley soaked with tears! We would like to express the greatest sympathy to you two. Fortis and your family have been as huge and loved in this community as Fortis himself! Im sure that video shows the absolute minimum of the wonderful times and love and memories you all spent together, it is so joyfully obvious what a wonderful life you provided him, and it goes without saying that he is the biggest and best friend "you shall ever know". Love like this is immeasurable and indescribably special. It is good to know that your last moments together were comfortable, beautiful and peaceful, epecially as I try to ignore the day that it comes here. Thank you so much for your comments, help, and concern when I first came here; thank you for reaching out. You and your wife are in everyone's thoughts, hearts, and prayers. May God bless your sweethearted soul Fortis-boy. It hurts so bad how short their time is here, they are just borrowed angels…. -Ryan, Jennifer, Georgia, and Huckleberry-
"….Fly on my sweet-angel, fly on through the sky…Fly on my sweet angel, tommorow Im gonna be by your side….

If the Rainbow Bridge has water under it, I bet he's swimming now.
Godspeed, Fortis.
Cindy and Boomie
Cindy and Boomie
Boomie's leg was amputated due to osteosarcoma on May 15, 2008. He enjoyed over two and a half years of life after that, one day at a time. He died on Feb. 21, 2011.
Brett and Pattie, I am so sorry to hear about Fortis. He left us much too soon. So many members of this website know exactly the pain the two of you are feeling right now. I wish I could have met him. Some of the things you wrote about him reminded me so much of our boy, Max. Fortis was truly "a dog's dog." He was a big boy with a bigger presence. Our thoughts and sincerest condolences are with you.
Diane & John
Brett and Pattie,
You gained such strength and courage over the last eleven months with Fortis, and you showed it last night by setting him free. The strength you gained, and the lessons you learned from Fortis will get you through this part of your journey.
We are here when you need us.
"Good-night sweet prince; and flights of angles sing thee to thy rest."
Karen
Brett and Pattie,
Thank you so much for sharing your Fortis with us. What a truly magnificent and inspirational guy he was. And the compassion and time you showed to him and to all the people and dogs you have befriended here only serves to show that Fortis had excellent teachers. Many of us here have lost good friends like Fortis in the past, some distant and some recent, but all who have know without a doubt the deep hurt and the void in your hearts right now. But the love Fortis put in your hearts can never be taken away. There are just no words to express what I am feeling for you all right now, but know that this family is behind you and here for you in any way we can possibly be.
Rest in peace dear Fortis..
