Early this morning, our beloved Max crossed the rainbow bridge. When we checked on him in the middle of the night, he'd been sick again and was completely unresponsive, so we rushed him to the ER. He'd lost a lot of blood and his GI system was in shock, so we made the difficult decision to end his pain. The doctors didn't know why he'd declined so quickly, they thought he had a very good chance to recover from the surgery, so I guess we'll never know just what happened to him.
When we said goodbye to Max, it was obvious that he wasn't himself anymore, so we gave him hugs and told him what a good doggy he was, and thanked him for being our buddy for the past 5 years. It's hard, but he's not in pain anymore and he can party with 4 good legs in doggy heaven now.
Thanks to everyone in the community for being so wonderful over the past couple of weeks. It's been a rough ride and I don't know what we would have done without you all. We'll continue to send good thoughts to all the friends we've made here. <3

the bravest poofle dog who ever lived!
I am so very sorry to hear that you had to let Max go. I've been checking the forums for updates on him, as I have been praying for him.
You did all that you could, and now have done a very selfless, loving deed by setting him free. You were with him to the end, showing him lots & lots of love. Your love for him will live forever in your heart.
Sending you lots of golden hugs! RIP sweet little Max. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
Cathy
I'm so sorry. It's hard to say goodbye, but know that you gave Max a wonderful life and did right by him not to let him suffer. I always smile when I see Max's picture on your avatar because he looks so happy! My thoughts are with you,
Lisa
Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end. On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

Love Never Ends
Julie, My deepest condolences to you and your family on the loss of your precious little boy Max. Like Lisa said in her post, Max never failed to make me smile when I saw his picture...he truly looked like such a happy boy!
I know you are all in such pain right now. His passing happened far too soon and it just wasn't fair...but your selfless love helped him to reach the Rainbow Bridge. Rest assured, he's making lots of new friends now. And know that your sweet little angel will forever be watching over you.
What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.

I posted on your blog as well, but I'm just so shocked and saddened about your sweet little Max. His picture is so cute and he always looks so happy and smiling, I couldn't help but smile myself every time I saw him.
You did the best thing for him and it was all out of love. I'm sure he knew that.
All the best,
Jackie, Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. May little Max run free of pain and rest in peace at the Rainbow Bridge.
Complications like this are rare and always tragic. Thank you for sharing.

Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
I am so sorry to hear of Max's passing. I have been following your posts closely as we are new members to the forum as well. You are such a loving Mom and did so much for Max. Thinking of you and Max...and hoping we can be as strong as you, as Dale heads into surgery tomorrow morning.
Oh Julie, this is so tragic! I can't believe this sad, sad news. We so wanted Max to be a part of this community for a long, long time, he was so adorable.
Our hearts go out to you and your family, we are so very sorry.

My wife and I are so sorry to hear this, and we share your pain. We know what it's like to have a healthy dog and then suddenly lose him out of the blue - we lost our first dog Shadow that way, and to this day we still don't know much about the sudden sickness that took him. Deepest condolences in your time of loss.
