Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Tank, we are so sorry to hear this. You big strong pup, we will miss you around here.
The poem your Momma wrote is so beautiful, I wanted to share it with everyone.Tank, My Black and Tan Buddy
You stand there, waiting and watching my every move.
Your black and tan fur shines in the morning sun, there on the grass of the back yard you wait.
Ears straight up and listening, carefully, legs stiff and ready to go.
Like a stone you wait, not moving, but your eyes watching my every move.
You wait for me, I tease you. moving quickly from side to side I go.
Back and forth following my every move like a shadow you go.
Locked in a friendly battle.
Your collar, metal, shining in the sun, swings with your movements.
I wish I could know what you’re thinking.
Tippy, our little dog, your best friend, barks continually at my feet.
Yip, yip, yip she barks, happy to be outside with us.
I raise my arm, the ball at my finger tips, you ready, Tippy barking.
The smell of the freshly cut, green grass.
As I release the ball, you take off after it, following the ball as if you both were launched from the same gun.
Will you catch the ball?
Catching the ball, you return to me for more, my black and tan buddy.
Run free Tank. May your spirit shine on all of us forever.

When Tank first arrived at Tripawds, I thought he was so handsome! Just a big, powerful, dignified Shepherd. You helped Tank live a very full life and he knew he was loved. That's really the best thing any of us can say: We were loved. I'm sure Tank knew this.
I wish your family peace as you move on to the next phase. The house will be too quiet and too clean, but Tank will pay you a visit or two. You will swear you saw him just around the corner or heard him over there. He will let you know he's ok.

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

Oh, no. Not beautiful Tank. I hope the memories of your happy times with him will bring you peace in the coming days and that soon smiles will replace your tears.
Thank you for sharing your poem. What a beautiful tribute to your boy.
He will always be with you in your heart.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
seems we are never given enough time. glad you made the most of each moment with handsome tank, and were able to bravely release him when the day came. hopefully your happy memories will eventually dry the tears. love never ends.

Love Never Ends
I am so sorry, most of us know how shattering it is to your heart, your soul. The only thing that has kept me from going off the deep end was the images of my boy running again, free from his broken body. I am so sorry for your loss. 🙁

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
I'm so sad for your loss.... You did the very best you could to make sure his life was happy, and the time you spent together was quality time filled with love and happiness. And those happy memories will help carry you through the rough days ahead.
We are thinking about you...
Micki
