Even small steps count. If you can get through today feeling a little better than yesterday, that's awesome. When you start to feel overwhelmed, stop, take a deep breath, and look for signs of everyone you are missing. You'll see it in the sky, the trees, the grass...they are never far, sometimes we just forget to look hard enough.

Bonnie,
I forgot about this yesterday but February is always a hard month for me (it's the month I lost my father on 2/7). Well a couple years ago a friend suggested I change the outlook of 2/7 and do something that my day and I used to do together to make happy memories. Well we loved to bake cookies together so on 2/7, I get all messy in the kitchen, bake up some cookies, take a walk on the beach (also a favorite past time of ours) and celebrate his amazing life. Perhaps something you and your sister did together might be a good way to cope...
I know that when the year of Shelby comes up, I will go to her special spot on the beach and CELEBRATE her amazing life! Through tears of course ... but happy smiles as well.
Sendiing more love ...

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
