My Corie lost her fight with cancer this morning. She celebrated her 13th birthday in October and her 5 month ampuversary two days ago. Today she was reunited with her sister and brother who went before her, got her leg back and isn't suffering anymore. I've been crying most of the day, and I know I'll cry more. I will heal in time, but for now I'm just grieving because I just want her to be here with me still and it makes my heart hurt that she's gone.

Jamie, I'm so sorry Corie's earthly journey ended today. What a blessing to have her in your life for 13 years, but that does not make this day any easier. I hope the memories of her wonderful life will help ease the pain. One day thinking of Corie will bring smiles, but for now let the Tripawd Nation help carry your grief.

Corie lives on in your heart and so will always be by your side.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. No matter how long we have them we're never ready to lose them, and when cancer or another illness steals them from us it males us feel so cheated.

Corie will always be with you, in your heart and in your memories.

Thinking about you, and sending you love.

Hugs,
Carol

Jamie, I'm so very, very sorry. She was such a lucky girl to have you for so long but I know no matter how much time we have together, it's never enough. Grieve as much as you need to, we get it. Some day the tears will stop flowing but for now, it's the awful price all of us pay for their unconditional, amazing love. I'm so sorry, I know she will be missed tremendously.

If you want to share any photos or more stories to celebrate her life with us, please do, we are here for you.

It just does not seem fair at times… I wish that all furkids that lose their leg to amputation had many months or years to kick cancer's ass as a tripawd!!  I wish…   I wanted that to happen for my guy too..  but sometimes we just don't get what we wish for.. and that sucks… big time and it hurts…. and we feel cheated.. it's normal.

My Franklin had his leg amputated on December 4, 2012 and mets took him on May 15th, 2013.  5 1/2 months he was a tripawd.  It's been 9 months since I lost my sweet boy.. and I ache still…   sometimes I am my own worst enemy by coming here.. if you know what I mean…   I relive the pain whenever I type these words in a post because.. I feel it again.. and know how you feel.. exactly!

Corie is still with you.. she’s lying right beside you so peacefully and quiet… she’ll follow you where ever you go. She’s leaning against you while you weep. She’ll always be around you. You see… she is waiting for you to open your heart and feel her.. she’s there… always will be.. and nothing can take that away.. not even that nasty “C” word!!!

You Know What Cancer Cannot Do???

Cancer is so limited
It cannot cripple love
It cannot shatter hope
It cannot corrode faith
It cannot destroy peace
It cannot kill friendship
It cannot suppress memories
It cannot silence courage
It cannot invade the soul
It cannot steal eternal life
It cannot conquer the spirit.
and most of all.. it will never, EVER destroy that bond that you had with your Corie... no matter how much time passes!!  Nothing. Ever.

Christine…. with Franklin in her heart♥

Franklin, he was the Happiest Dog on Three Legs! Diagnosed 09/26/2012 with Osteosarcoma, amputated 12/4/2012.  Had a wonderful 5 1/2 months painfree until he ran for the Bridge on 5/15/2013.  Always in my heart, and always a guardian angel of my pack...   You can follow his Tripawd Adventures, before and after, in my blog, Frank'n'Farter!

My heart aches for your loss of Corie.  What a wonderful 13 years you gave her.  In time the tears will be replaced with smiles when you think of your sweet girl.

Amy & Libby

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

Jamie, I'm so sorry to hear Corie has gone on.  It was such a pleasure to meet her this past December.  I remember what a good girl she was that day, and she had such a dignity about her.  Thank you so much for sharing her with us.  I know her story has inspired so many here on Tripawds, and will continue to inspire as new members join.  Sending healing thoughts to you.

R.i.P. Corie. You will be missed.

Kathi and Murphy

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Jamie and Sweet Corie...

We understand like noothers can. Yes, thirteen years and four months s amazing and yes, you have thirteen years and four months of the most blissful time together, but it alson means you have so much more to miss because you were together for so lonb. Of course' "long" is a relstive term here.

Your heart is shattered to a million pieces right now. But you kow what, bit by bit...not right now, but soon...one of those glorious memories you and Corie shared will be the glue that puts that broken heart back together again.

I love the "poem" tjat Christine posts in times like these. NOTHING invaded Corie's soul! NOTHING can conguer Corie's spirit and NOTHING can destroy the love you two shared...that IS eternal!

I know you felt privileged to have Corie in your life.....and she was just as privilege d to have you in hers! Oh my gosh, the love that girl got day in and day out.....she took that with her! And she lef her love for you right there nestled in your heart. You don't feel it right ow because it hurts too mich...but it's there waiting for you to feel it.

I mentioned in your Private Message thingtomplease post here.....here is where oir hurt starts to heal. Maybe not today, but all the love you are beinginfused with here, along with all the fun memories Corie has infusedyou with...yeah, it will help.

When you can, PLEASE tell us more avout Corie. Did she like toys or just prefer sticks? Did her ears perk up if you opened a box or bag od treats? Did shedrool and slobber right before she got ready to give you a big kiss? What didnyou do tthat made her tail wag like crazy? What did she do that made you laugh out loud?

I so look forward to hearng more avout Corie. And a HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY CORIE!! I bet you get cake and ice cream evsryday now!!

Surrounding you with Corie's eternal grace and loving spirit!

Sally and Happy Hannah

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Oh, Corie.  So much sadness.  She lived a marvelous, enormously-loved 13 years.  She was without pain for most of the last 5 months.  I know it's been tough lately, but it's a sweet gift we can give at the end.  She's whole, with her pack, and deservedly without pain now.  Run free and fast, Corie.  We miss you.

HUGS

~ Katy & Jackson

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12.  Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ!  No side effects.  We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments.  He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors!  Our love. Our funny little guy!
