It is with a heavy, broken heart that I tell you that my boy earned his wings today. He fought so hard - and he won. I believe that with all of my heart.
My only consolation at this moment is knowing that he and his brother, Merlin, are together again. They came into this world together to owners who dumped mom, dad and all seven puppies at our rescue. They left the rescue with a family who loved them more that any babies have ever been loved. Now they are together again.
I cannot write much right now. But I want you to know how Zeus got his name. At only 45 lbs we were often asked why we named him that as it seemed like a name for a much bigger dog. We actually got to see Zeus' parents. His father was full Husky with one blue eye and one brown eye. Zeus had one-fourth of a blue eye and it looked like a lightning bolt. When the sun would hit it it would just sparkle. It seemed so majestic and powerful. Today, if you see the sun glint off of something, think of my boy.
I love you My Little Gentleman. Now and always. With every single beat of my heart I will love you until we are together again.

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Oh Noooooooooo! We can't believe it, we are so, so sorry. We were in complete denial, this is something we hoped we would never have to read.
Lisa, we are trying so hard to hold back the tears, because we know that being sad and mournful isn't what your heroic boy would want right now. Because darn it, he DID win, he kicked cancer's butt, defied the odds and made all those statistics and prognoses and doctors look so silly. He defied the grim outlook and said "HAH! Cancer, take THAT!"
But it still makes us so cry to know that he has earned his wings. It's such a hard thing to go through, and if there is anything we can do to help, please don't hesitate to ask. We were here if you just want to talk or share more stories and photos, whatever.
Please accept our deepest condolences. The Tripawd Nation mourns for our hero. May his spirit shine on and twinkle in sky, forever and ever.Run free with your brother Zeus, we know you are always looking out for us us.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this news - Zeus has been such a hero for us - he did beat this disease and every prognosis, he kept going no matter what. Your boy was the Tripawd Warrior Dude Extraordinaire.
Please know you are both surrounded with huge hugs & love,

Lisa and Greg, I'm so sorry. If love could have saved him, he would never have even gotten ill. You had a remarkable life with two remarkable dogs. Opening your hearts to Merlin and Zeus made you grow into the big-hearted people you are today. Thank you for never making it about you, but only about Zeus and his needs and desires.

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

Oh Lisa- My heart is aching for you right now and I'm so sorry that Zeus's earthly adventure has come to an end. What a true and perfect example of a tripawd warrior he was and always will be....and such a majestic boy too. I can only imagine how missed he will be by your family. I know that he was truly loved by all of us.
sending warm hugs to you and thoughts for healing and peace...

Lisa,
I am so sad that Zeus has left us. I am glad that he is no longer having to fight. He did defy all odds. A big part of that is you. I am so glad you got this last month or so to enjoy him and be with him and spoil him. He is and always will be a true inspiration to all of us. May you find peace in knowing he is running free with his brother and you know he has his smile on his face right now. What a beautiful dog he was. I hope you find solace in knowing you did all you could for your boy and that he is flying free and without pain now.
Thinking of you now as we have been for the last couple of months.....

Jack Russell born in 2001. Mast cell cancer found Dec 2009 and right rear amputation. Five rounds of chemo done before all treatment stopped. Living life to the fullest!! Read my story at http://rizzo.tripawds.com
I am heartbroken for your family, as I am sure this will leave a big gap in your lives. What a wonderful boy he was! I never feel sad for the dogs who have passed, though, because I know they are somewhere better, happy and pain free... and happy to wait until they see us again (they've got a lot of running around and catching up to do "over there"!).
Right hind limb amputated 7/3/12 for OSA, started on alternating cycles of Carboplatin and Doxorubicin and oral Palladia. Single lung met 9/1. Met in the neck muscle removed 9/30. Large mass in sublumbar lymph node 10/2. Rescue chemo with ifosfamide 10/6. Mets to the rib and axillary lymph node 10/21. Started Leukeran and Pred 10/25. Wookie left this Earth for a far better place on 12/4/12. I miss you, Boo, you were my heart.
Lisa, we are so sorry that Zeus has moved on. What a handsome and brave boy.
How wonderful you had the opportunity to share your life with him. We learn so much from our special Tripawd dogs.
We wish you peace and may the time be short when your memories of Zeus bring only smiles.

Lisa, I so did not want to see this post. Our hearts are breaking for you; Zeus has touched our hearts with his beautiful spirit. We loved that picture of him sticking his tongue out at cancer! May he run and play with Merlin all day, every day.
Please know that we are all here for you-it's so, so hard to lose our beautiful babies. We will think of Zeus often and remember what a brave tripawd warrior he is-just like his name.
Wishing you peace,
Joan and Lily
Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.
Well, in all honesty, this is not what I wanted to read today. Today or any other day. I'm so sorry to hear your brave strong boy has gone on. He fought such a difficult battle, but he fought it with great strength and much dignity. He really did put all those doctors and their prognoses to shame!! What an amazing legacy he has left for others just beginning their journey down the same road. Zeus will live on here, and in everyone's hearts, forever. Sending consoling thoughts to you.
