She is my pretty girl~ Thank you both. We received her ashes back yesterday which had me crying again of course. Then at 8 pm, my doorbell rang and Maggie (our vet tech) was there. She had made a paw print of Abbey in clay and brought it to me! I was so touched because just days ago, I was looking at the two little bronze hands of my now grown girls, made when they were each 6 mos old. The thought crossed my mind that it would have been cool to have one of Abbey too, since she is our child as well. That little paw print now sits on an easel between Lindsay's and Erin's. What a blessing!

Hi Diane,
Abbey is a gorgeous dog. It is just so amazing to me that the vet tech was so thoughtful in making Abbey's pawprint out of clay for you to have and cherish. I know there is nothing we can say, or do, to take away your pain, but, hopefully, just knowing that there are many people out here who care about you who are wishing you good thoughts about your beloved girl will somehow help even if it's just a little bit.

To feel the love and support from people who really understand has made all the difference. I miss her, but I am not in despair, and that is huge! We will invite another sweet puppy into our hearts one day, but not for awhile.
Thanks, Vicki~

I am very touched by your story and everything that everyone else has written. "Releasing the spirit from the broken body" of our loved ones is such a terrible painful time for us, but you wrote it in such a way that is full of peace, love and anticipation for the time where we will be reunited with them. Thank you so much for this. In your pain, you have given me some comfort and hope as I've been more focused on the inevitable these past few days than the actual joy of having Zeus here with me. I will refocus my energy, as Jerry told me to do, back to the present day.
Our thoughts, prayers and love are with you,

Yes, everyday is a gift. We can not let fear consume us. Even though I love Buster like a son. I will make memories for now. I love the idea of a paw print.

I talked to her and I talked to God and felt their presence. I will miss her every day of my life but believe 100% we will be reunited.
Dear Dianne,
I am very sorry for your loss. I cannot stop crying reading Abbey's story.

Thanks for your response, Diane,
I AM glad you are not in despair, but I do know that you miss Abbey dearly. I don't know if it's because I live alone with my animals that I tend to go into deep despair when I lose one of them. It's kind of hard when you don't have family support and sometimes friends don't understand how you could ever love an animal so much. I'm sure you've probably encountered this, as well. Some people just don't get it.

Hi Vicki~ That is why the support of this website has been so incredibly important through this entire process! Yes, I miss her very much but have accepted the fact that death is part of life and dying is part of living...but there is JOY in the journey in spite of the pain. I am thinking of getting a little kitty because I am not ready for the intensity of a puppy, but need a furry baby to care for; it's just who I am~
Love, Joy, Peace,

Hi Genie,
(I do not have this quote and reply thing down yet; sorry) I so appreciate your compassion and yes, the whole creation knows its Creator and has hope because of Him. No doubt about it. Check out Job 12:7-10 as well. The animals know and love Him. That gives me great comfort.

Hi Kim~ You are right on; worry doesn't equal control and control is an illusion anyway. The only thing we can control is our own thinking and our actions. By choosing to stay in "today" gives Buster and you a better memory of "yesterday" when tomorrow comes! "Seize the Day" indeed!!
