Thank you all!!v Sally ... I love that stuff. Have to get some!
I'll tell Shelby to pass a message to Trouble and Hannah to visit more often!
So I think the mind/head play games with us ... I was walking Jasper tonight (put her on a long lead so she could get more exercise since I don't feel up to loooooong walks with her) and I noticed she looked like she was walking funny. Like her left rear leg seemed weird. Kind of bow-legged and she was leaning right. Once she was on the grass, which is actually less stable, she seemed better. I KNOW she is fine. I know she is HEALTHY and her joints are fine. I do not let her jump in or out of my car or on or off my bed but she runs and jumps at the park. She is ... a DOG! I cannot keep her in a bubble and maybe it is because I am reliving the last 4 months of Shelby post-amp and I am seeing things that aren't there but I want to let it go already ...
And it's been a busy week at the bridge; two more friends lost their babies, a dog named Fred and a cat named Mikan. It gets me thinking about how I cannot bear to go through that again.... and yet, I obviously will but hopefully not for a very, very long time. Hug your fur-babies tonight... I know I will.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Shanna, Happy Hannah isn't visiting me yet either! If Bob sees her hanging out with Trouble when he gets a visit, tell him to jave her stop by, okay,?
It's a deal!

You are going through the 'shell shock' that so many of us experience. Yes, you see defects that aren't there. Yes, your vet thinks you are a hypochondriac. It's OK. Little by little, you begin to trust that nothing bad is truly following you around. You will learn to allow the thought that It's a Dog, truly can exist.
After almost 4 years I'm better, but still take mine to the vet at the least little hint of a problem. Thankfully he is extremely tolerant of my neurotic behavior.
You are doing great. Really. Your behavior is as normal as normal can be - given the circumstance.

Yep, totally normal, we all do it here. My poor 11 year old dog gets checked out repeatedly for lumps, bumps etc. We become a bit more vigilant after the nasty c battle. Feel better, get some rest. Be good to " you" this weekend. Hugs from, Lori, Ty and the pack
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
You are not alone Alison, we are all hypervigilant. Its not a bad thing, we just have to try our best not to let our fears stand in the way of them living.
HUGS

Thank you all for reminding me that this is most likely a bit of PTSD. I try and forget our cancer journey and focus on all the FUN Shelby and I shared but it is 100% natural to be this way.... it hasn't even been a year since Shelby left.
I was in Boston for the 2013 marathon and had just finished when the bombs went off. It was about a year before I could hear fireworks or a car backfire without jumping... The mind and memory may suppress things but internally they are still there, obviously!
It helps more than you know to hear this is normal and that I just need to balance it with Jasper and her life. So many people try to tell me to "let it go" since Jasper is a new dog and healthy but like we've all said, unless you go through this, you simply do not get it. and yes, they are coming from a place of love but when it makes me think I am loco ... then LOL I come here to be validated and grounded!
Hugs!

Let it go? Oh lordy, well, obviously those people have never been through something like this.
On another note, congrats on running Boston and very glad you ran as fast as you did that day.

Wow Alison I can't believe you were that close to the marathon tragedy. I'm so glad the Universe had other plans for you.

Thank you everyone ... Yeah, 2013 was a stellar year... Boston, my best friend broke her leg and was then diagnosed with cancer and I lost my job.... it was a real test of strength and I am forever grateful I had my best friend with me the whole ride! I'll get my running legs back and qualify and run Boston again with my angel on my shoulders!
And thank you Tripawds foundation! Look what arrived yesterday? It's beautiful!!! I love it so much and until I decide where I want to put it (keychain, necklace, etc), it will sit w/Shelby's shrine! LOVE it!!!
