6 months have passed since I had to let Lupe go. Can't believe its been 6 months. Been doing a lot of soul searching this week and it hasn't been easy but I have noticed that I focus more now on the many, many, many good years that she and I had together and not the horrible disease that took her from me. She brought so much joy and happiness to the world that just thinking of her brings a smile to my lips (and sometimes still a tear in my eye).
Have some thoughts I will put into a blog post. I wanted to thank you all for the support you gave me during her diagnosis, surgery, short recovery and then in coping with her loss. Tripawds has been a wonderful place for me during the last 6 1/2 months...thank you for the bottom of my heart.
Diagnosed with possible synovial cell sarcoma of right front elbow 5/31/12. Amputation surgery performed 6/7/12. Final diagnosis of histiocytic cell sarcoma 6/11/12. Her soul and spirit were strong, her body was not...my little girl earned her wings 6/14/12. Wow, it's hard to believe that six months have gone by. It's so hard to reach these dates, they bring back so much emotion, especially soon soon after saying goodbye. But I'm so glad to read that your emotions have transitioned from heavy grief to bittersweet happiness at having her in your life. It shows that we do find a light at the end of the dark tunnel, thank you for sharing. And we do look forward to that blog post.

That's always painful to loose a best friend. Takes a lot of time to heal. Seems like you are starting to heal. Healing doesn't mean forgetting but being able to to see things differently about a painful event. Your girl is using her beautiful wings to watch over you and wait for you up there.

Oh, 6 months was a hard day for me. I'm glad you are able to focus more now on all the happy times you had together. She's your special angel now.
It's sweet of you to stay around on the site and offer help and support to others.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
I remember all to well the day you let Lupe go: I was heartbroken for you. I am so glad to hear you find yourself remembering Lupe, not cancer. She was a lovely girl, and I know how much you miss her. Thinking of you today.
Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
I also remember the day Lupe flew home. I was stunned, sad and so very heartsick for you. I'm glad you've dug away through some of the pain to find the good stuff there. You and she did have so much good to remember. I want to read the blog post, and I hope you can post some pictures of Lupe through the years so I can know her better.
Shari
From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.
Dakota's thoughtful and erudite blog is at http://shari.tr.....pawds.com/
I also remember when Lupe earned her wings. It's always hard to see pups lose their battle but even harder when their battle is way too short.
Time does ease the pain. I don't think the tears ever fully dry up but they do become less and the good times start to shine through. I'm glad that is starting to happen for you.
Thinking of you.
Karen and Spirit Magnum
Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/
I also remember the day that Lupe crossed the Rainbow Bridge--such a beautiful girl. Please know that you are in our thoughts as we honor Lupe.
Joan and Lily
Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.
