The 5th November was 6 months since we said goodbye to Magnum. Some days it feels like a lifetime ago and other days it feels like yesterday.
The incessant ache in my heart is a little more bearable. I do smile, I laugh, I am happy. And I do love. Things I thought I would never do again
Our newest family member, Ruby, gives us so much joy. Both my husband and I didn't know if we could allow another dog into our hearts again without feeling guilty, but we can. Magnum knows how much we loved her, still love her. Loving Ruby doesn't diminish what we shared with Magnum. It honours it.
Making this video was harder than I thought it would be. So many memories of the wonderful almost 10 years that Magnum and I shared together. She was such a happy, loving, loyal, courageous and cheeky girl. I am such a better person for having loved her and been loved by her.
This video is for you my beautiful girl .... I miss you.....

(I couldn't figure out how to put it in here but I think it is working in my blog, see the link above)
Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/
Wow. 6 months? It's hard to believe.
Milestones like this can bring such emotional shakeups into our lives. We are so glad to see that your pack and especially Ruby are honoring Magnum's memory by remembering the good times today and always. It's difficult to get to that point, but once you do, the tears give way to fond memories, and it's so much more soothing to think of our loved ones in that way isn't it?
Many hugs on this occasion, we send all our best to you.
Here is the video that you wanted to post:

Just wanted to add that I LOVE the video, especially the footage of her loving life.
What a perfect song for a perfect girl.

Wasn't sure I'd be able to watch the video... given I have to go to work soon and can't go in crying! But, it was beautiful. Love the song, had forgotten it over the years. And what beautiful pictures.
All I can say is... Magnum wasn't loved much, was she? She was such a lucky girl to have you! Glad you have another dog to love now too.
Note to self: take more pictures....
Such a beautiful video for a beautiful girl. I know the video must have been so hard, but I hope it also brought back some great memories. I'm so glad you found MB Ruby. I'm sure she is as good for you as you are for her.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Thanks everyone. This video has been in my head for months but I left it until the last minute to actually put it together! I was emotionally exhausted once it was all done and posted.
I knew this was the song for her. It suited Magnum and the way she loved and lived her life.
And yes, take more pics and videos! You can never ever have enough of them. We are lacking in video footage but at least we have some.
Of course there are still tears, there will always be some sadness but at least the happy memories are starting to overshadow the sad ones (most of the time).

What a beautiful and emotionally moving tribute to your girl! She certainly lived and loved large in her ten years with you. Thank-you so much for posting this...I can only imagine how hard, but hopefully, cathartic it was to put together.
It's so beautiful that she left you with the lessons of love and life so that you're able to honor her by opening your hearts and home to MB Ruby!

I love that we can continue to share here the milestones, the videos that mean so much, and the thoughts we are having.
Thank you for taking the time to share. Sometimes it seems insignificant to us as we post something, but it often helps someone in ways you may never know.

As beautiful as Magnum was as a grown girl, could she have been any cuter as a pup?!
Thinking of you as you continue to heal from the her loss...

I loved the video and the song. Magnum was certainly a loving, special pup. I hope you to know that she lives on in our memories and hearts. I fall in love with these special babies without ever even meeting them and I will never forget any of them.

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...
