Wow, thanks for all the replies.

Cora is doing much better. she was perky until a little while ago. Now I think she's sore. I'm about to give her a tramadol

I love your suggestion. I looked at the webpage but if it's that tight I don't think I could get it on her. She doesn't even like her harness being put on and off.  I'm not saying no, but I think we have some work to do first.

I'm sure it could be modified to fit her in a way that she was comfortable with and/or extra closures so that you wouldn't have to pull it over her head.  It really only has to be tight enough to keep it in place.

If you call or email them & describe her needs I'm sure they'd be willing to work with you.

Meanwhile it's good to hear she's doing better- it HAS to feel better to have that thing drained!!

I haven't updated. it's like I feared. She keeps reinjuring the stump. She's pulled out the stitches and she has a gaping wound. In a different situation I'd be taking her to the emergency vet but I don't want her going anesthesia again unless it's the amputation. i don't want the emergency vet doing her amp. I am very clear that's what she needs. the last few days have been awful.

dharna, I appreciate your suggestion. i've watched her closely. unless it's something she can wear all the time it just won't work. I watched her bang the very edge of her stump on her food bowl. I've watched her stumble coming out of the kennel and put the stump down.

I feel like no matter what I do right now it's wrong. I want her to feel better NOW. I hate how bad things are right now, but I don't want to put her through multiple procedures. I am worried because my boss is a ...err... rigid person (I was polite) and he is going to get super mad if I take more time off for cora but she really needs to go in ASAP

I tried putting her in a tee-shirt to help keep the stump clean and protected and it made her totally miserable. any contact on the stump hurts.

Chris, I know you can get through this. Things seem really tough right now and they most definitely are, but you and Cora are both incredibly strong, you will see better days ahead.

I would come up with a plan to talk to your boss and find out how you can make a compromise to be able to stay with her as long as you can while she recuperates. Hopefully this will be a fast one and you wont' need to take much time off work. Is there anyone who can help with her recovery?

Yeah, ditto everything Jerry said. Thank goodness Cora has you in her life.

Your frustration level must be off the charts and then having to watch her feel badly too......proof that life sure as heck isn't fair!

Emotionally, you've been here many times before and you ALWYS come through it.....ALWAYS. Everything has a time frame...good times as well as bad times..and it's btime for the "bad times" timeframe to be up!

Slowly inhale a deep breath right ow.........and exhale slowly......six times in a row....deep exhale, not so shallow!

Surrounding you with serenity and a knowing that you and Xora are safe, Sally and Happy Hannah

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
