Paula wow, these posts took me by surprise! This is the last thing I expected when checking in today. I hope Nitro is doing better & this is temporary setback, will be keeping you both in my thoughts & prayers! Hugs.....
Bentley is our eight year old Doberman, diagnosed 7/13/16 with osteosarcoma tumor on right front leg, became a tripawd on 8/1/2016. His recovery was amazing, he was rockin it on 3! Bentley lost his fight to this nasty cancer when it metastisized into his spine, we had to let him go 11/13/16 exactly 4 months after first diagnosis. He was the perfect best friend, i'll miss him forever. :(
What a relief. Nitro sure hit the jackpot when he found you, and I'm sure you feel the same. I wonder if that muscle thing Jerry posted could be what Pofi has gong on?
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
I'm just catching up.
It sounds like the last time, and also just like when Murphy hurt his neck the day he went to get his teeth cleaned. Literally just minutes. Pain meds & massage helped Murphy. I was so scared! He would yelp & just lay down on the floor - all he had done was go outside to go potty. These dogs!
More hair dye!

Wow, I just saw this. OK Paula breathe deep, wine & chocolate. I know this is so hard and scary. Keep us informed. I know we started out with Jazz every 10 days with her Chiro and acupuncture. Maybe if that is possible to do for awhile. Maybe is doing something while you aren't home?
I will be in chat a little later going to dinner with a friend.
Hugs

Luckily his chiro vet made time for him tomorrow in between farm calls (like a house call, but to the barn, lol). He's getting around better with his drug cocktail kicking in (Carbo, Tram, Gaba), but you can tell he still hurts in the hind end. For sure he'll get an adjustment, and most likely acupuncuture too at 1pm. For the life of me, I have no explanation as to why this keeps happening - provided it's the same issue as before. Of course, I'm still picturing the worse-case scenario, but trying to be positive. Then I think it's life's way of slapping you down when things are going too well, like "haha sucker, think again".
Just kidding....I know there are many others out there with really serious issues to deal with; in the grand scheme of things, we are still doing well. Thanks for thinking of us.

SAHANA!! So good to hear from you! Hiw is that precious couxh chewing Lucian doing?
Paula, it can take the slightest, imperceptible twist to make the back go out, or make back legs weak, etc. And, "maturity" makes these things happen more often and a lot easier.
So glad he is feeling better. You'll feel better roo after you get a good night's sleep!!
Zzzzzzzz.....zzzzzzz
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Paula, I haven't read all your posts about Nitro so forgive me if I am repeating a suggestion, but I read on the golden retriever forums that gabapentin can cause hind end weakness. I would have to go do a search on the GR forums, but I distinctly remember it because my dog is on it and I watched for any issues (he had none). May be a possibility? So sorry you are having to go through this :(. Hope Nitro is doing better!!

Goodness Paula 😳 poor you and Nitro 😔
I just read your thread and hope Nitro will be on the mend soon.
Our babies do get us worried ...
Please let us know how Nitro is, once the vet sees him 👷🏼 he will probably need a lot of rest to recover his good old muscles ...

Update on Nitro:
He had his chiro and acupuncuture treatments yesterday, seemed to go well. John came with, and Nitro was the perfect patient - layed still for the 45-50 min with needles in, didn't shake out a one! When it's just me, I'm lucky he keeps the needles in for 10 min. While he was "cooking", Dr. Patty called his regular vet to confer on a treatment plan, sort of like East meets West. They decided they'd like to have X-rays taken of his spine and long bones of his legs to see if there was something going on, or if it is just "neuropathy".
WELLLLL, by now most of you know how I feel about X-rays......but I made the appointment for this morning, no sense dwelling on what they'd show. Again John came with me for moral support (and to make sure Nitro made it into the truck ok). They took him back for the x-rays, and we waited...and waited...and waited...and waited. By this time I'm imagining all sorts of horrible possibilities. ONE HOUR later they bring him back to us; they had take 28 X-rays! Good news is there was nothing malignant looking, but some narrowing of the spine right by his tail. She was going to study them more later, and give a copy to Dr. Patty; this should help her determine where and how to do his acupuncuture to give him the most relief.
So, answers, but not. He has improved greatly from a couple days ago, I would imagine mostly from the med cocktail, but also the treatments yesterday. One random thing - his diaper was dry the last 2 mornings.
Thank you all for your concern and good wishes. When/if I learn anything new, I'll be sure to pass it on.
much love,
Paula and Nitro

All in all this is a good report. So relieved to hear that sweetie is feeling better. The narrowing might be age related too. I love how East meets West for Nitro working in conjunction with each other. Yay for dry diaper too. You are such a great advocate for Nitro. Your love for your fur babies is so stellar! Hugs to you all! LOL can see Nitro knows John is the pack leader and doesn't misbehave while he's around. 😀😀
WOW!!! 28 xrays...an hour wait...and you made it!!! And so did Nitro!!
I know your heart was in your throat as you waited for results...And I ddon't blame you one bit!! But what a great outcome!!! YAAAAAAAAAY FOR CLEAR XRAYS!! I know the relief we feel, so I can only imagine the relief you feel! And YAAAAAAAAAY FOR JOHN...THE ZEN MASTER KF CALM 🙂

Great news. 28 X-rays? Wow! That's thorough. Hugely reassuring that they were clear. So pleased to hear he's improving.
