Holly has started on daily Rimadyl for as long as it helps/doesn't cause damage to try to help ease what we hope is arthritis pain in one of her back hips.
I want to replace her regular old glucosamine supplement with Dasuquin. Is it ok to give her the version with MSM while she's getting Rimadyl? Or is that too much anti-inflammatoryness (that's a word, I swear! )?
Thanks!
Alex, Holly's mom
Hi Alex, Magnum was taking MSM throughout her various treatments, including while she was taking piroxicam (another anti-inflammatory. Our oncologist said it was OK.

Sorry, I just realised you posted this in Ask a Vet and I should have left it to the vet to answer you. Fortunately I was right so no harm done (I will be more careful next time)!
Pam just on the proof, for what it's worth...... Magnum was on glucosamine for a year or more but her arthritis continued to get worse. When I switched to a formula with glucosamine and MSM (called Joint Guard) there was a significant difference in her freedom of movement. I know she is only 1 statistic but.....

Quad pug Tani has been taking glucosamine with MSM for a few years. More than a year ago we started her on rimadyl for what is now pretty severe arthritis. no problem here with giving them together. I hope the rimadyl helps Holly- it has made a huge difference in Tani's quality of life. We check her liver function a couple times a year, so far no issues there either.
