Piper's incision is healing well..no redness or swelling at all. But there was one small "knot" where it almost looked like a stitch had been wrapped around some skin and puckered it. Now it appears to be getting bigger :-/ And its a little bloody underneath like it might come off. He is supposed to get his stitches out next week and we'll have the vet look at it then but (of course)...it's worrying me 🙁
gayle had a little 'pucker' too....they said it was where the incision ran into one of her nipples, and they tried to stitch and it puckered.... eventually, it flattened out and was invisible under the hair that grew back. hope you find out that piper just had a 'boob job' and it's nothing to worry about!!!

Love Never Ends
The incision looks pretty good from the pic! Duke had an odd spot at the end of the incision - they called it a flag, or flap, or tag, or dog-ear or something like that - where at the end of an incision there is sometimes an odd spot but that it isn't anything to worry about. Duke's has pretty much gone away. Not sure if that is what you are seeing or not, but since it looks like the end of the incision I was thinking it might be something similar. I guess we have to remember these are vet orthopedic docs, not human plastic surgeons! =)

Glad to hear Piper is doing well! I hope that "thing" heals quickly and he is back to not making everyone worry!

She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Abby had a funky little spot at the end of her incision too. As a seamstress myself, I thought it looked like they just didn't do a very good job sewing her back up! It was eventually fine once it fully healed and when her hair grew back it wasn't noticeable. Hopefully Piper's is just a similar thing. Definitely have the vet take a look, but I don't think it should be anything to worry about! (Although believe me I know it's hard not to worry about everything!)

I used to call it Abby's nubbin. The phrase I said most often post-amp until it was FULLY healed was, "Abby, stop licking your nubbin!"

OMGosh that is so funny - we also called Zeus' a nubbin and I said "Zeus quit licking your nubbin" at least 100 times during recovery! Zeus' incision looked like an upside down peace sign and the point in the middle where the incision met was a little puckered area. It kinda looked like an extra little bumhole on his shoulder.
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Ahahahahaha! Oh my Lord, that is milk out the nose funny!
Sometimes this happens because you end up with extra skin after the leg comes off. Most of the time they heal up fine but sometimes the skin flap can come off.
