My girl was recently diagnosed with metastasized osteosarcoma on her lung. It's a small 1 cm spot right now. We decided that the best route for her would be to avoid surgery, and just go with chemo pills given at home. I'm reading a lot of mixed notes on the handling of this drug. We have another dog as well, and some sites say to keep them away from each other, and the saliva will contain the drug, so they have to have separate water buckets, and we cannot come in contact with her saliva..which will be very hard considering she is a slobber. Do you have any feedback on if we do have to be this cautious? Thank you in advance for your help!

We gave Leukeran after Nitro got cystitis from cytoxan and I didn't do anything extraordinary when he was on it. I handled it without gloves, my dogs drank out of the same bowl, I didn't fret about yard clean-up.

Nitro 11 1/2 yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms. Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"
