Oh, Jenna, I hope you are right and it is just something similar to what Finchy had. The swelling is not terrible. I had measured her wrist before, back when she scared us with her toe issue, and it was either 5 or 5 1/4 in. Today is it about 5 1/2. Her paw looks a little puffy too.
My hubby is convinced she hurt herself barking at some kids Friday night, and slipping on the wood floor. He thinks her back legs were shaking because she was compensating and walking weird the next day. Of course I am still worried though that it is the cancer spreading. She has a hard time getting up and down. She can get around on her own still though.
We went to run an errand and she was lying on the floor in the living room when we left. I thought she'd be in the same spot when we came back, but she had gotten up, hopped down to our bedroom and got one of Mike's socks out of the laundry (she loves to sleep with one of our dirty socks when she is home alone...) then hopped back to the den and was actually sleeping up on the sofa with her little sock. Couldn't believe she got up there on her own, so I guess that is a good sign??
Her appetite is fine, which is good for her cuz she has never been a big eater. Her gums are pink, her pulse seems fine. She is kinda dopey from the tramadol I gave her.
Please keep the good wishes coming. Her onc. won't be in the office until Tues, but I can take her to the regular vet tomorrow if she doesn't seem better in the a.m.
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Abby, Did you get an appt for tommorow? Hope you are feeling better.

This morning she is still a little lame - she has a very hard time getting up and down and she is not moving at her usual quick-pace. But, she's been trying desperately to get me to play with her: play bowing, following me around, chewing on my sleeve. She just hopped past here with her dad's stinky sock in her mouth and tossed it up in the air. So.... she is seeming a lot better but I'm still concerned about her mobility. I gave her a 1/2 a tramadol to slow her down so she doesn't hurt herself again trying to play! I also gave her the last of our piroxicam.
We have an appt to see her usual onc. tomorrow (Tues) at 10.30 (unfortunately their office is closed today!). She seems to be doing well enough that I'm not concerned about taking her to her regular vet.
Hopefully tomorrow he confirms that it is just a little injury and NOT that the cancer has spread.
So, continuing our mantra for one more day... overuse injury overuse injury overuse injury!
I'll keep y'all posted!!!
Thanks for chanting with us! Overuse injury overuse injury overuse injury!

Come on Abby- we need another good report like the toe injury!!
I'm only tying 'overuse injury' once because typing it more will lead to one, but I have been thinking it the past couple of days.
Gee- I hope I don't get a 'O I' of the brain by thinking it too much..... doesn't take much at my age .
