My 18 week old puppy just had her left hind leg removed 3 days ago.  She is doing well I guess. She is eating, drinking, going out to do her business etc.  But it is hard to keep her still. We were told to leave her collar of shame and a leash on her at all times.  It makes it difficult for her to do anything.   After going out and eating and drinking there really isn't much to have her do.  We lay on the floor with her and give her loving and hold a bone for her to chew on but thats it.  We feel like we are crating her too much but when she is out she is restless. Is it okay to crate her most of the time?  She is in the cage for an hour or two so then out for about 45 min.  I did take her for a short walk around the yard but my husband was worried that was overdoing it.  I guess I just want to know if it is bad to crate her so much?

I would crate her any time you can't be right with her supervising her.  A puppy should heal quickly so after 2 weeks you should be able to go back to a more normal crate schedule.  If she is very hyper your vet might prescribe a safe sedative to help keep her quiet.
