Hi, Dr. Pam (and anyone else who wants to chime in) -- Any guidance on optimal timing for:
-Sucralfate/Carafate
-Pepcid/Famotidine
-Pepcid/Omeprazole
in terms of how far before or after meals and other meds they should be taken; optimal sequencing and the right intervals; max daily doses for each, etc.?
Lexie's on a bunch of meds as noted in my signature, and she seems to having a bit more stomach issues than usual lately. My onco vet and primary care vets seem to have slightly different opinions on the questions I posted, so I thought I'd get your input, Dr. Pam, and see if anyone else has been given explanations by their vet or found an ideal dosing schedule that seems to work.
Thanks in advance,
Deb and Lexie
Deb and Angel Lexie* Diagnosed at age 13. Tried radiation first; wish we had amputated upon diagnosis (even with lung mets). Joined Club Tripawd April 2014 & Lexie loved life on 3 legs! Advice: Start physical therapy as soon as your vet clears it, especially hydrotherapy if available :-) See Lexie pics here.
Good to know. Thanks, Pam!

Ty was on both in addition to several other things. His med schedule was crazy. My vet recommended 2 hours separation between Carafate and other meds/food and 1 hour between the Pepcid and other meds/ food. I actually bought these small portion ziplock bags and put his meds in them . Hung a days worth on fridge and as I gave the meds, I put the empty bag in the back. Not sure if this helps, just thought I would chime in since Ty was on both. Hugs from, Lori and Ty

She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
Lori, I remember the system you said up for issuing Ty's meds in an earlier post. So glad you repeated itnhere because Inthought it was so brilliant, eliminated chance for error and very efficient. Thanks!
