I’ve been reading about focused ultrasound for a number of things. Is thisDifferent than the traditional diagnostic machine that general  veterinarians have?

Great question. You will find the answer is in our Tripawd Talk Radio interview with Dr. Amy Kramer. However she does not mention using it for bone pain related to cancer metastasis.

I mean if a dog has a swollen limb or knew or something on the other side, we can do some ultrasound or tight muscle we can do ultrasound to help decrease that tightness before we do a lot of stretching.

I think focused ultrasound might be different? A different machine? That’s what I need to find out

It is a different machine than the diagnostic ultrasound that most vets have.

tbanks for the reply.. I found some research.. this machine seems to be at very few centers in the US... Its being tested to do things like treat hygromas and bone tumors as well...

On  a separate note.. I read that therapeutic ultrasound can help increase bone mass.  Is this true?  I do monthly zolendronate to build back bone that the cyberknife eliminated.. as well as what the tumor eliminated...  should I be using ultrasound as well?  ( it hasnt been offered,, but I can request it.. if it can help.

should I be using ultrasound as well?

We respectfully suggest that you ask your oncologist these treatment questions since they are more familiar with Simon's situation.

Since Dr. Pam generously volunteers her time with us, we try to reserve this area for specific Q&A, not in ongoing advisory consultations. Thank you for understanding.
