Well Shilo has started running a temp about 103.4 today at the vet, they had told us to try tylenol 325 mg to bring it down. They wanted to use Rimadyl but, it doesn't sit well with her. It tends to be an appitite suppressant and we are already struggling with this issue. I wondered if anyone had other ideas on lowering a temp?? I gave her the Tylenol but, it doesn't seem to be lowering it too much, it is about 102.9 now. Thanks for your help
Shilo's Mom
Shilo diagnosed with osteosarcoma 9/4/2009, amputation 9/9/2009. ShiloAnne lost her battle 11/23/2009 where she regained her fourth leg and is patiently waiting for her parents to join her. We will always love you baby girl.
Oh we are so sorry, we hope the fever breaks soon. We Googled "how to lower a dog's temperature" but came up with nothing. Our Pet First Aid guide suggests immersing a dog in cold water in the case of heat stroke, and encouraging the dog to drink water. That's all we could come up with though. We hope someone else has more ideas. Good luck, lots of healing thoughts coming your way. Give Shilo a smooch from us.

I would not do anything other than the Tylenol. A normal temp for a dog is 102.5 or less so 103.4 is not that high. Also, the body tends to make a fever for a reason (to help fight infection or even cancer) so the fever should drop as the condition improves. You said that her WBC was okay but is she on any antibiotics?
Pam
Hey Pam -
Since my pos had a pretty rough night. Her temp went up to 104.8 and she was fairly uncomfortable. They do not have her on antibotics due to the fever is because of inflamation caused from the cancer. They did add the rimadyl with the tylenol today and that seems to have controlled the fever and made her feel a lot better. Thank you for your quick response, I appreciate it!!

Shilo's Mom,
I'm so sorry that Shilo and you are having to go through this, but I'm glad to hear that Shilo's temp is down and she's finally feeling more comfortable. I hope that Shilo hangs in there and gets over this hurdle... I can't take any more bad news!!
You and Shilo are in my thoughts and prayers!!!
