Sounds like a lot of very smart people are on top of this, but they'll probably need support to finish the job!
There's a good summary of the issue at the Dane County Humane Society's website, here: http://www.give.....-dogs.html
The link at the bottom - "See Wisconsin Wolf Hunt concerns Animal Welfare Community" - I found the most interesting. Links you to testimony from experts, like dog behaviorist Patricia McConnell.

Personally, I can't wrap my head around the idea of hunting our wolves at all, but what is being fought for is stronger rules regarding the use of dogs in these hunts - to lessen the risk to the dogs of being attacked. Sounds like realy common sense stuff, when you read it.
Gerry has been a tripawd since 12/16/2009.
He was a shelter dog with a mysterious past and an irrepairable knee injury.
Videos and pics of Gerry's pawesomeness can be found at: http://gerry.tripawds.com
Wow, who knew? This is so horrific:
“Dog packs that will be used to chase a wolf or a pack of wolves will be regarded by the wolves as a threat,” explains Thiel in his sworn affidavit filed with the Court. “Attacks will be swift and furious. Dogs will be seriously injured and die, and wolves will be injured and die as they both fight by slashing out with their canines and carnassial teeth.”
In Dr. McConnell’s professional opinion, without thoughtful and clear regulations, “Wisconsin’s wolf hunt will be little more than state-sponsored dog fighting.”
Thank you for enlightening us about this. So therea re no breed restrictions as to what dogs can be used for this . . . I am especially in shock because of the photo of the wolf chasing a Golden . . . a Golden? For hunting? Come ON. Gotta love that governor.

I just saw this post. I don't think they should use dogs for hunting wolves. I guess the golden was a "bait" to lead to the other dogs. There's other ways to deal with them like leaving them space to live which include for pray to live too.
