I am not one to put a lot of stock into a numbers game but I just realized the irony or connection of the "8th" of the month for me.

I have a TimeHop app on my phone that recalls past status updates on FB, Twitter, etc. I had been getting a lot of 'past' updates on Shelby - in her prime - so I figured I better be proactive and figure out when in June exactly she broke her leg so I would be prepared.

June 8th. She broke her leg.

August 8th. First interview for what would become my current job - one of the most compassionate places I have worked in that they allowed me personal leave for bereavement.

September 8th. She was admitted to the hospital for an enlarged spleen and it was removed the next day

January 8th.  Her leg was amputated

April 8th. She crossed the rainbow bridge

I'm not a superstitious person but as I approach the one year anniversary of when Shelby broke her leg and all that came after, I am hopeful that she will continue to guide and protect me (and my heart). Fortunately, without even thinking/knowing the date, I made plans for next weekend with friends so I will not be alone... It will be a tough one, as I am sure this community knows all to well but I know with the support you all and Shelby from above, I will pull through. After all, she was #shelbystrong and her strength continues and lives on in me.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

I love, Sally, how you can always turn a perceived "negative" into a positive!!! :-) Perhaps you are right ... maybe a new fur-baby will find a for-ever home with me on the 8th of some month!

I  don't start volunteering until the 14th so I know it won't be June ... but we'll see!!!! way-cool

Hmmm, I do think that's super interesting! I love the way numbers play into our lives. I like to go with 3. It seems to pop up everywhere! ;)

Turn the eight on its side and you get the symbol for infinity.

Lots of meaning for infinity, but I think it is the amount of time you and Shelby will be soul mates. You might be physically apart from time to time, but you will always be connected.

I read this last night when I was out w/my BFF and we BOTH got chills!!!! I love it!!! And I will forever remember that ... thank you for that observation. What a gift! :-) Thinking about it that way makes perfect sense (since I actually would tell Shelby when she was here that I loved her to the moon and back and for infinity) ... Thank you Karen!!!

Aww, that great Alison! What a great connection you now have to your infinite relationship to Shelby!
And the Universe validated Shelby's infiniity when you and your friend both got "cold chills" when reading Karen's response. Yep, when so eone else gets the "chills" with you, it's supposed to be the Universe agreeing with you!

Rene! I "like" the number three too! No surprise there, huh? In fact, I "like" nine because 3 x 3 = 9 !! Five is my second "like" number.
