LOL about the bow!!!  Today we went to Petsmart to buy little dog stuff.  Shampoo, a carrier, a small bed... I wanted to buy some bows and my son was appalled.  "Teddy Bear is a BOY!  Why would you put a bow on him???"  In the end I didn't buy any; but that is because I realized that I have plenty of little ones that are better quality left over from when my girls were little.  LOL!

Thanks for all of the congrats.  We had a great first full day together.  Took him to our vet to get checked out and vaccines (the last owners hadn't updated his shots that were due in March.  The rescue only had him for a few days when I got him and he was supposed to go in on Monday for shots).  I could have taken him to the vet's office that the rescue uses; but 1) it is about an hour away from me, 2) I wanted the rescue to get as much of a % of the money I paid for him as possible, so didn't want them having to pay the vet; 3) I wanted to go ahead and get him started with our family vet.

Teddy got a 3 yr rabies shot, the other normal annual shot and microchipped.  He is clean for heartworms.  The rescue had said he did have worms and they had given him a treatment just yesterday.  I saw some dead worms in his poop today, so our vet gave me another dose to give him in 2 weeks, then another a month from now.  We figured out what I'm going to do for fleas/ticks/heartworms for the next 2 months while I hope they get some Sentinal in for his size, apparently it is in short supply right now.

Oh, and can I just say that Petsmart, with 1 new dog, 5 kids (our BFF's 2 kids are staying with us for 2.5 weeks) and one adult is an adventure that I don't plan to take on again anytime soon.  Though... in a month I am thinking about bringing him on our trip to Colorado - the flight there and back will be just me and my 3 kids.  And maybe Teddy.  My husband is only making it out for the weekend.  Maybe I should leave Teddy with him.  Hmmmmm

Jac and Angel Spencer.  Spencer was 5.25 years old. He fought a grade 3 fibrosarcoma, started on his shoulder.  Left front leg amputated in August 2011.  15 weeks of chemo finished 12/22/11 (mytox and adria).  Lung mets found on x-rays 12/28/11.  Started carboplatin 1/6/12. Went to Heaven on 2/27/12. I miss him like crazy every day.  See his blog here:  http://spencer.tripawds.com/

I am so happy for you! I think Teddy is adorable and I hope he makes you laugh again. Loving a new dog is good medicine — and an appropriate tribute to our Tripawd warriors.

Best,

Beth, Spirit Smilin' Sammy and MB Wiggly Wrigley

Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.

We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.

toe nail painting came up today!!!

Monkeybutt is making up stuff.  I have never wanted to paint his toe nails!  Guilty on the bows though!  As far as a tattoo...yes, but it's an ugly "n" for neutered.

Teddy, don't get a tattoo!  And resist on the girlie stuff too!  But I admit, I'd want to put bows in your hair too!  You are just too cute!!
