Sorry to hear Zeus, who has the cutest little face ever in the avatar, isn't feeling well. Hope the Cerenia and Metronidazole help him to feel better very soon.
Will you please give that cute little face a kiss for me? There is something about that look in his eyes, and his lips, that just melts me. Good thoughts coming your way.
So sorry to hear that Zeus is having a hard time right now. He's strong...... He'll pull through this!!
Wishing you the best and sending many pawsitive thoughts your way!

Our Super Dog Hunter crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on a beautiful summer day in July, just 3 days shy of his 10th Birthday. He gave us everything since he was 8 weeks old. Hunter was a 14 month warrior of OS. We LOVE and MISS him every day.
Big hugs for you and Zeus! The joys of a sensitive stomach...Lupe was a member of that club many times over the years. Hope rest and meds help and if good vibes help to there are so many coming to him!!!

Turns out he had a temperature (103.5) so they ran the extra blood cLP snap test which came up abnormal and is an indication that he likely has pancreatitis. Again. Bless his heart, he has the most sensitive stomach ever. In addition, his RBC count was low and WBC count was high. Dr. R said this can indicate bone marrow suppression issues. Of course my first question when he mentioned bone marrow issues was whether that means the cancer could be spreading. He said it is possible, but more likely that it is being caused by the infection. Dr. R gave him a shot of Cerenia, a round of Cerenia pills for four days and Metronidizole for four days. Recheck on Monday afternoon for follow-up CBC to see if the counts are normalizing.Dr. R agreed that the MP drugs may very well have triggered the Pancreatitis. Unfortunately, Dr. R saw this as a sign that he cannot tolerate the MP treatment. He wants to get him over this hump and see if the blood counts return to normal, then look at "maintenance" doses of IV chemo instead of MP. Not sure I'm on board with this, but I guess we'll cross that bridge when the time comes.
Thanks for the good thoughts. Gonna go cuddle a baby boy....
Has your vet mentioned cimetidine? It is just tagament but in generic form and does an amazing job of halting cancer. We are using it now for our "Flick" and having amazing results. Look up the dosage online if he is not aware of the treatment. It is phenomenal without any of the side effects. Can't hurt. Prayers are with you... thoughts don't help.
So sorry to hear about Zeus not responding well to the MP. I know Chloe and I have been in/out of vet specialists office ALOT over the past few weeks trying to get her gulping under control.
I've been there with the paranoia and have posted about it. Hang in there.

Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
Poor Zeus! I'm so sorry he's having a bit of a tough time. And poor mom, too! That sick feeling in your stomach is the worst. Ugh, just when you think things are going to be calm for a little bit, this ridiculous disease always throws another curve ball your way and you have to revise your plan.
Lots of hugs , cuddles, and pawsitive thoughts coming from us! I hope that he is feeling better today.
Awww, thanks for asking you guys. He seems to be a bit better today. Temp this morning was 100.5 (and let me tell you he hates me for knowing that). Maybe a little more energy. I can tell that he doesn't seem nearly as uncomfortable after he eats. Even yesterday, I could tell his stomach was hurting/upset after eating, even though he was getting mostly oatmeal with a very small amount of normal food.
Greg was out of town today and I have to admit that I had a moment. I think it's only the second time I've actually cried in front of Zeus but I looked at him sleeping and he just seemed so frail and I just couldn't help it. Of course, ever the sweet boy, Zeus wedged his nose between my hands and licked away my tears. Which just made me cry harder - I mean, come on, HE has cancer and he is comforting me?! Anyway, I pulled it together and he got lots of tummy loves for the rest of the day....
He really is my hero.
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Awww... sorry it was a bit of a rough day. But glad he is feeling a little better. I'm sure we all have our moments - that's what happens when we love our 3- and 4-legged kids. And he may be the one who has cancer, but he doesn't know that. His mom and dad do, however. 🙁
And, yes, temp taking isn't a favorite activity I'm sure. Poor Duke - he was getting his front leg re-wrapped the other day while having his anal glands expressed. What fun that must have been! 🙂 My gentle boy apparently didn't put up a fuss, however. He seems to be having trouble expressing them himself since the rear amp. Kinda makes sense I guess. OK... done with the TMI. =)
Hang in there. Enjoy your hero.
Zeus is our hero too. I'm glad to hear he's feeling better, and hope that today is better than yesterday. Have you tried giving him any ginger? If you grate a little into his food, it's supposed to calm his stomach and nausea if he has any.
It always seems like cancer survivors, whether human or canine, are more stoic than the loved ones who surround them. But it's still OK for you to cry, you wouldn't be human otherwise. Do your best to let it out, then move on, so that cancer doesn't rob you of your time together. {{{{hugs}}}}}

Zeus just rocks!!! I hope he is doing better soon! And big hugs to him for having to deal with getting his temperature taken...Lupe used to give me the most pathetic look and little whine when the vet tech took her temp, was hard not to laugh...
Sending good tummy vibes to Zeus today and any day he needs them and big hugs to you whenever you need them!
