Hello. So far the news seems good for Valentina! The vet says that she made a good improvement since yesterday and he thinks that the steroids are working. He said she can walk alot better now and she was able to poop and pee. She's eating good too. So he said to just keep our fingers crossed that it continues to improve. He also said that if she is still doing as good tomorrow as she was today that she can come home. Yay! That is what I am really hoping for. So I am glad that I decided to leave her there because he said that keeping her confined was important and so were the fluids. They are giving her a special medicine to help her stomach also. I can't believe how much I miss her. It's only been one day. I keep thinking that she is here. It's strange to see her bed empty and not hear her noises. I am trying to stay optimistic but I do know that things like this can reoccur especially since she is such a big Dog. I think her compensating for only having one front leg is part of the cause of this. I think sometimes her spine gets twisted in a weird way. Especially when she squats to pee. I think that is why she was so reluctant to pee because that is what made it really hurt. She will have to be on steroids still when she comes home and I will have to make sure she stays calm. I am hoping so much that we have stolen a bit more time. I will take what ever I can get. I feel like Valentina completes me and part of me will be missing when she is gone. She has been one of the very best parts of my life. There will never be another like her. I do have to add though that when she is gone that I will have some comfort with my Doberman Emalee. I am glad that I have another Dog so I won't be completely Dogless. I could never ever live my life Dogless! Valentina is in the spotlight so much that poor Emalee gets put a little to the way side. But I have to tell you what a wonderful Dog Emalee is also. She is so sweet and so obediant. I love her very much. She deserves to be mentioned. I know Emalee will miss Valentina too when she's gone. She is looking around for her and whining wondering where she is. I love it when Valentina comes back home and they reunite. They are super excited to see each other. Well thank you so very much everyone for all of your support , caring words, suggestions, stories and prayers!! I appreciate all of you with all my heart!! I will update tomorrow.
Valentina Angel Dane diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in front left leg May 21st 2011. Amputation July 5th 2011.
DOB:11/3/03 DOD:2/3/12 . Valentina was the Love of my Life!!! There is nothing like a Dane!!!
You have made my day with this happy update! Way to go Valentina!!!!! So glad she is doing better-- see, you made the right decision leaving her at the vet's. Here's hoping she comes home tomorrow!
Emalee-- I am sure those crazy monkeydogs would love to sign you up, although your name is way too beautiful to be associated with those scurvy dogs..
Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
Yay - Great news!!!! sounds like she is on the road to recovery and that it was the best choice to let her stay with the vet. I hope it all continues to go well and she is home tommorow.
Its so hard for our other babies when one of them have to stay at the vet you just want to be able to tell them not too worry, and that they will be home soon.
Sarah and Kayla

charon & spirit gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
So glad to hear this!! You guys have been on my mind all day. I hope she recovers beautifully and you get to bring your girl home tomorrow. In the meantime, spoil the monkeysister!
Lisa and Zeus
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

I can imagine how relieved you are. I am delighted that Valentina did well overnight and is improving. You and Emalee can have a party to celebrate when she comes home!

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

Every night my 11 year old daughter and I watch a show or two together. Alot of times we watch old sitcoms from when I was growing up. We rent some from the library and some I just buy. Right now we are currently watching the third season of the Cosby Show. It is so much fun. Anyway while we were watching the Cosby Show I looked over and Emalee was all curled up on Valentina's bed! Valentina and Emalee never get on each other's bed. It was so sweet to see her laying in Valentina's spot like she missed her!
Hooray for a great update! Big hugs and kisses to Emalee and Valentina when she gets home!
BTW, I love how you always capitalize Dog. I think that's pawesome, and probably how it should be.
All the best,
Jackie, Angel Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman.
